Hard start.

If my car sits, even overnight, it's fairly hard to start.  I've gotten into the habit of using the starter to get it out of the garage and then dumping a cup full of gasoline in the carb. It starts immediately thereafter, and for the rest of the day.  I'm guessing that I'm due for a carb rebuild, any other suggestions?

Carter or Edelbrock carb?

I have the same issue but my was solved with some minor carb running.

Check your accelerator arm setup, springs, tension etc.

Then check nozzles.  I found out my primary nozzle was too small and my rears were good size.  My primary's were dripping and not spraying.  So check those nozzles in the carb.

No issues no more...though i did find out my car loves gas now and have an increase in lots of power....

Don't be so quick to jump on the rebuild train.  First, what 'carb are we talking about, and what's the history on it-such as how old, the current jetting, etc.  How's the rest of the fuel system?  Fuel filter?  Is your choke working?  Until I got my electric fuel pump I had to set my choke on first start up or the car would never fire...

Electric fuel pump....problem solved.

It is the correct 4428s Carter from 1968.

I notice that the throttle-shaft is leaking fuel on the driver's side when it sits for any period of time. This might explain why fuel isn't staying in the carb over time.
