I have a 69 charger with a 383,original an hp383. I want to know what the correct air cleaner looks like. According to this site http://www.nicksgarage.com/aircleaner.htm the one I have is for a 70 383.I'm going for a stock look under the hood.

Thanks

I've seen the unsilenced and the 69 with snorkel.  Not sure which is original but the 70 and up style is not correct for 69.
I am not sure what determined which cleaner you got that year.

Ya I have no to know for sure. I will do some more digging, and see about getting a correct one for the year.

The notations for the pictures, on that linked site, may not be 100% correct.  I have a 1968 Charger R/T, built late 1967.  I have the un-silences air-cleaner.  I am the original owner.

383-4V Chargers typically came with the dual snorkel air cleaner. Most definitely so if it came with A/C.

Snorkels horns would be oval shaped cross-section, not round as the earlier ones, or rectangular (with dampers) as the later ones. Don't know the part number for the correct one, but there are several variations with similar appearance if numbers don't matter to you.

The car isn't a numbers car so as long as I'm in the right year its go. I know the car came with 383HP the daul snorkles would most likely be it.  I was at a mopar junk yard yesterday and the guy I was with and the owner couldn't see eye to eye on this.

Lex, while I have never studied air cleaners I am 95% sure a HP would come with a unsilent air cleaner just like the 68 through 70 Road Runners did.

Here is a 68 Charger I did with A/C, but it is a 68. :scratchchin: Oh, the Cam 2 cans where not OEM.
