Pretty fast little truck. Couldn't resist picking it up for a rock bottom price. Gonna be fun.  :2thumbs:

Remember them very well, I was washing cars part time at a Dodge dealer when they were new.  Enjoy.

Gotta get rid of the running boards and wood stake sides on the bed. Then it will look a lot better. Hadn't seen one of these in years and this one popped up on Craigslist not far from me. Belonged to an 87 year old man.

No way, you gotta leave those on.

Nice score anyway, a mate of mines father has one, quite like em for something out of the ordinary

The wood on the sides of the bed stays. The rails on top of the bed are something homemade. I think they would have been on a Warlock, but I've never seen them on a Lil Red Express. The running boards are okay and they cover up the exhaust, which always was hanging to low on these trucks.

It could have been replaced but the Warlock and the Li'l Reds shared the wood on and around the bed.

What year is that one?

79. The 78 was the better of the 2 years for speed. Dodge fooled the EPA in 78 and didn't have to put catalytic converters on.

Great trucks.  Fun too.  We used to tow with this '79 model back in the late 80's.   We are just about to leave for Talladega in the pic.

According to the Judging rulebook, pg. 18, no oak side boards on the Express.  Only on the Warlock.

I bought an engine out of a wrecked 78 once and put it in my 69 Dodge van. That 360 ran pretty strong.

1968 Plymouth Road Runner, Hemi and much more
2013 Dodge Challenger RT, Hemi, Plum Crazy
2014 Ram 4x4 Hemi, Deep Cherry Pearl
1968 Dodge Charger, 318, not much else
1958 Dodge Pick Up, 383, loud
1966 Dodge Van, /6, slow

Bought a 79 back in early 80's, to tow the Charger to the track, worked great. One owner with only 52,000 miles on it. Would smoke the tires at will in first, bury the speedo past the 85 mph gauge, I think 110-115 was top speed. Use to have some N.O.S. stuff for it but it went with the truck when I sold it, miss that truck. Thought about getting another but to many projects know.

The '78 LRE truck was the quickest American production vehicle in '78, quicker even than the Corvette.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Great video. Thanks for sharing. Took it to a cruise last night and people loved it. Even the younger crowd that had never heard of one were impressed. Its sure is fun to drive and a peppy motor.
