The rear rear quarter corner cap gap is gone & the body line below the rear side marker light looks too crisp. I suspect that what's hiding under the paint would be very ugly.  Looks like a decent driver though.

you could be right but I am wondering if this was an "early" restoration.  The original hand formed quarters were terrible  fit and they did have that sharp body line. Corner extensions and lower valance were nonexistent so it would have been make your own. Mid 80S this is what I ran into and I was able to still get used quarters then.

WOW Its only about 110 miles from me.

So does a color change from gold to red help it sell or value to you?

Looks like a nice car in photos, the quarter does look cumbersome like Mr Dirti noted.   Not to beat up colors, IMO.... gold is in the bottom of the barrel for me.... I would still rather have it gold than a color change on a rare car.

How do you think it impacts selling?  I'm guessing most would rather have it color changed to red or another color.

If a car is a hot rod or race car, a color change is not big deal. For restored, stock, rare cars..... a color change is serious detraction in my book. Because this car is number-matching, I think the color change actually hurts the value on the open market a little.

Headrests were an option in '69, albeit it not mandated standard equipment until after Jan.1, 1969 ( hence all Daytonas should have 'em ). Both of my '69 C500's have headrests....

Talked to the seller for quite a while yesterday. Nice enough guy but did not know very much if anything about 500's. He was nearly going to pull the car from eBay because he thought it was a clone car. Guess first person to contact him about it said it was a clone due to the VIN on dash.

Car has been painted red ever since his step dad bought the car so no sure when the color change happened.

I Just bought this car a few weeks ago, and thought it was cool there was a thread started on it. I am no major collector, just been enjoying the Mopars for 30 years. first time I have been able to own a rare car. The car is no trailer queen, but it is a nice driver and numbers matching. I figure some day I can turn it into a top restore, but for now I enjoy driving them, and I don't feel to nervous about driving it. Its put away for now till next Spring, we just got our first snow flurries flying today.
I think this site is pretty awesome as well. a lot of good info. I will be asking lots of questions. I already got my eye on painting the master cylinder bracket black this winter.

Very nice and Congrad's... !!!  If this is your first reply since you bought the 500, you're the newest AB !!!!!!   :2thumbs:

AB = Aero Bastard, a title that's been past down from new Aero owner to the next-most-current............  I've had the title 3 times and passed it along all 3 times.......

This is a great site for sure............ If you want some cosmetic suggestions for the engine bay to look more OEM, but retain the electronic ignition, let me know......... I owned a car just like this ( the T7 Bronze 500 in the previous reply )..... If there's a screw hold down your master cylinder cap, you may wanna get a more original looking one.... Easy edit to the engine bay................. Oppppsssssssssss, I said something..  :D

Cheers,
T
