Anyone have a dirty mary crazy larry charger clone?Post pics if you got em.

bad1032

MCG had an artile on one a guy redid a while back. Good issue.

generalfan01

I have few pics of clones, but It's not mine, do you want me to post them??  ;D

Ghoste

There was a 70 done up as a clone at the Nats a few years ago.  I know I have pics here someplace.
Oddly, you never see DMCL clones around.  It had such a distinctive stripe and wheel combo, that you'd think more guys would do that.

dkn1997

does it bother anyone else when people clone the wrong year car?  '70 dmcl, '70 GL's.   or 68's of either of those.  Without getting into the debate on whether or not we like clones, if your gonna go to alll the trouble, why start with the wrong year car?
RECHRGED

Ghoste

For me personally it does.  Not a lot though.  Maybe we should look at them as not so much clones as tributes?

Chargen69

certain people like certain things about different years, and they like certain things about the movie cars, to each his own I say...

...But if it were mine, part of the thrill would be having something that like exactly like our favorite tv or movie cars

dkn1997

in that case, If i had a '70, I would put that black stripe on it but not do the yellow/lime green type color.  so you would have the cool stripe and maybe the wheels....just me, and I'm a guy who has a red 68w/black top and put a whitel bumblebee stripe on it.

Its the best charger movie made in my opinion.

Ghoste

Same here.  I know there are better movies with Chargers in them but until the recent DOH movie, none gave the Charger as much face time.  It'll probably stay my favorite for a long time yet.

greenpigs

It is a cool looking ca.r

Not only was it the greatest car movie ( next to HOT ROD )  but the best one with a charger in it.

Its right before we cross over the border so i have a chance to stop but some people get a little pissed when you park a smelly freight train next to there house, i guess well see.

Is that right on Rt 11.? I'm guessing (from your description) north of Rouses Point and the Rt. 2 intersection (bridge to Vermont), just before the border?

That's pretty cool because its the same route we took to pick up my Charger back in '02 - a barn find out of Vermont.

Jon Smith

this one lives in th UK but i dont know the guy and have never seen it in the metal

69pistolgripRT

Mine is close. I used to have the slots but removed them about a two years ago for the magnums. I never went with the stripe but the movie car did serve as the inspiration.

The color is the same but looks a bit different in the pics.

:yesnod: The Cap'n agrees wholeheartedly...it's the one that started my love affair with the Dodge Charger back in 79 when it was being shown on the local tv station saturday afternoon theatre...

I'd like to do the paint job on my 68. But not sure how the stripe would look with round side markers on each end. I guess I could just fill in the side maker holes.
Still looking for 15x7 Appliance slotted mags.....

Great film. The guy that built the clone charger did a great job, but he forgot one thing, the air temp decals in the rear windows. Look at the film and you'll see them.  ;D

THE CHARGER PUNK

actually he forgot a few things such as as stated the a/c window sticker, vinyl top trim,no headrests and the car in the movie had the basic black steering wheel not the sport wood one.-MATT oh and the cb radio of course   ;D

terrible one

Just what I was thinking. I would like to do the wheels and paint scheme with the strip on teh '68 but I don't know how that would look with the side markers.

I seem to recall no turn signal lites were mounted in the hood. Somebody told me the color was 1971 Y3 Citron yellow. Anybody know if that was write?

I read it was a color called "Limelight" - a yellow/green - after I heard that, I assumed it was aftermarket. I do know the paint stripe down the side was placed there by the film crew.

THE CHARGER PUNK

thallium has this paint scheme done on his 68 cept his car is dark green and the stripe is white , looks cool-MATT

so whens the remake of the movie gonna come out?

Bullit_68

I love that car. When i was a kid i saw that movie at the drive in when it first came out.Thats what got me hooked on mopars and mostly Chargers. If i ever get a 69 i really want to make a clone but for now i,m making a 1/18 th die cast one.

Ghoste

I've always been surprised that ERTL didn't do a DMCL diecast.  They had the tooling and they've done everything else in 69 Chargers.  All they had to do was get permission to do the box art.

69pistolgripRT

The color of the movie car is citron yella (curious yellow GY3).

Same as my car. It does photograph a little different, though.

this aint a clone its justa stock 70 r/t that some guy stuck the 440 dmcl stripe on-MATT

Ghoste

I don't think I'd call them a pinhead.  I kind of like it and it's a refreshing change from all the GL's (not an attack on GL's, just a personal opinion of taste).

HITMAN 149

i know this post ia a lil old..but i kinda got excited that some pics of mine (not my car) would fit on the site!!! LOL
this was on ebay about 6 months ago a guy in PA was lookin to sell her...she was just a bit to HI-PO for what i was looking to do and he wanted to much coin($) for what i wanted/would of had to do to her?!?!? so ..the hunt continued!!! LOL

That looks pretty cool, I'm diggin' the old Mickey-T's. ;D

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Ghoste

Not too crazy about the Chevy hoodscoop and big chrome Ford mirrors though.  I like all the rest.

squeakfinder

hobobum149 do you have any images of the back of that car? I'm wondering if that was a decal or painted on stripe. I figured for that paint scheme to work on a 68 the side marker holes would have to be filled.
Still looking for 15x7 Appliance slotted mags.....

Mean 318

I would be intrested to see how that would look on other mopars! :yesnod: Like maybe a 70 coronet!!!! :icon_smile_tongue:

HITMAN 149

rotsparts.....
he had a 69 tail panel on it..in which obviously i'm a 68 fan...so the tail panel would have to been swapped back i believe you can see...it loks like the rear marker lights are squre like on a 69 also he had a built 440 w/ 4sp and a 4:11 or 4: 56?!? dana 60 rear. the int was nasty green...ewwwww!!! LOL and neede to be redone also, bumpers were sprayed w/ the car not powdercoated. if i remember... he was looking for $17K or b/o...i told i'd give em $15K & he wouldn't bite?!?!? oh well.... i've got my R/T now...so patience & persistance paid off!!! LOL

Agreed!...this is the Charger that did it for me, several years before the DOH and will always be my fave movie car. Probably due to the custom stripes and slot mags, just reminds me of the 70's...decade I grew up in.. :icon_smile_big:
