Anyone know what happened to the blue 68 chargers that was used  in christine?

bad1032

Danbury mint has a metal die cast of that car out. but no clue on the real one

It be cool to have one of the christines, I read an article they built 21 Christines for the movie, but only 3-4 exsist.  They took a pretty good beatin' during filming. The one in the movie with tinted windows didn't have an interior, I saw a pic of it, it only had a bucket seat and a roll cage, One of the nice close up cars was used as a promotional prize, a sweepstakes winner won it. Another neat fact is they had body parts like fenders hoods and doors made out of a rubbery plastic type material to do the regeneration scenes. But I havent read or heard anything about the 68, though, my guess is it probably became a general lee, cause the movie was made in 82-83 same time dukes was going full time and topping the ratings.

I know where one of the Christine cars is.  I forget the guys name but he has that Muave 66 Hemi Charger with like 8000 original miles.  That guys wife has one.  This has been a few years so they may have sold it by now.  I talked with her for a while at a TDC meet here.  They're nice people to talk to.

No clue on the Charger though.
When I was just a very young lad I looked up and told my dad, a bareback rider's what I wanna be.  I want the whole world to know about me.  In the rodeo arena I'll make my stand.  I wanna be a rodeo man.  I'll come flyin' from the chute with my spurs up high, chaps and boots reachin' for the sky.  Spurin' wild with my head throwed back, you'll ask 'Who's that,' well that's Bareback Jack.  You'll ask 'Who's that,' well that's Bareback Jack.

The Charger was a 69 with a 68 nose.  Sweet ride, though.

I agree with jaak. It most likely became a General Lee. The area it was in, the time, the car had been damaged during filming (watch the extras on the DVD). WB probably bought it cheap because of the damage. They had the whole Southern California area sewn up buying those cars. Only way they didn't get them is if they were too expensive.

But there is another possibility. It could have been fixed up and kept by the rental company. There is a blue with black vinyl top 1968 Charger in many background scenes in the movie "A Bronx Tale". That movie also relied heavily on rented cars to give it a period look.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Hey guys, would anybody happen to have any more pictures or screen caps of the chargers. I'd really like to seem them because that looks almost identical to my '68.

In the scene where Arnie first spies Christine, they back up,  and the 69 bar tail lights and valance reverse lights are there.

The car used in A Bronx Tale was a '69. Another little tidbit on that movie...The guy who played the young DeNiro was recently arrested for burglary and killing a cop.  :o

The backup scene in Christine was shot from the front of the car. I'm curious as to what Kab saw?  ???

Ok, I know what happened to the Charger from "Christine" and I am not making this up.

It was the summer of 2002, and we were In the middle of filming a movie, with a 68 Charger as the main car. We had a mishap. The temp stunt driver lost control of the Charger during a scene on a gravel parking lot and the Charger slammed nose first into a Ford Taurus stunt car that was not being driven at the time. Well, to make a long story short, the Charger's front right fender buckled outwards on impact and looked like black crumpled up tin foil. The movie was delayed for 2 weeks as we set out to find a new front right fender for the Charger.

After half a week of searching I came across an all-Mopar auto and salvage yard 3 hours north of Toronto called "National Moparts". Since we were filming in Rochester, NY - that was only 5 hours away - I was definitly within driving distance. In just so happened that they were working on Jim Caviezel's 68 Barracuda from the movie "Highwaymen". They were all out of Barracuda parts, but they had 2 Charger fenders - all original steel from the South (rust free). I purchased one on the phone and went to pick it up.

As I arrived at National Moparts, I turned in to what was a Mopar Oasis out in the middle of nowhere - not only was there rusted out/part car/waiting for resto mopars as far as you could see, but they also had a line of fantasic Mopars being fully restored in their small but professional complex of garages. You see, they have a sister all-mopar yard down south (Georgia I think) and they get a tractor trailer full of new bodies and parts a few times a year.

Well, as we were walking over to the fenders, the main guy behind the phone (I think his name was "Mike"), pointed out a burned 1958 Plymouth Fury. He told me it was one of the original cars used in the movie "Christine" and it was also one of the cherry show cars they used for the close-ups in the film. In more detail he also explained what happened. He said that after the production was over, a collector with ties to the production company purchased that '58 Fury and the '68 Dodge Charger used in the film. After a few years of owning them, the owner and his wife had a serious falling out - of which the wife left him and demanded a divorce. Later, the man, in a drunken rage, set fire to his house so the estranged wife wouldn't get anything - the entire house burned, along with the show cars in the garage (including the '68 Charger and '58 Fury from the movie). The man ended up dying in the fire as well. So, the burned carcas of the 58 Fury found its way up to National Moparts were it stayed for a number of years until the muscle car boom.

I was all set and the editor of "Mopar Action" was ready to give me a green light to write an article on the burned Fury and the National Moparts, but when I called there last month, I was informed that the burned Fury was sold to a Canadian collector for $2,000 Canadian dollars and then re-sold for bigger money to a resto shop/collector in the US somewhere. Without the Fury in place, the editor scrapped the article.

So, the '68 Charger from the movie is now probably a charred body sitting out in a field somewhere.
oh, and we were able to get the fender back to Rochester, repainted, and installed in 2 weeks - the movie production was fired back up and we finished the chase scene. The title of the film is "And I Lived"

I don't know about it burning up, but I saw an ad in Hemmiings many years ago, like 15 or so.  The ad was for the movie 68 Charger from Christine.  The price was $35,000 at that time.  It could have been a made up ad or even before the collector aquired it and subsequently had it burned.

TylerCharger69

Yes...there were at least two...but if you watch closely....when  Arnie gets picked up in it....there is an R/T badge on the front headlamp door   but....you are correct as far as no r/t stripe

THE CHARGER PUNK

I have a picture that I took of an original '58 Fury and '68 Charger Christine movie cars, they were both owned by the same guy at a car show in Ohio. I took it in '98, I will try to get it uploaded somehow. He said he has owned them both since buying them from a collector that worked as part of the movie crew in the early 80s, after the movie came out. I think he said he bought them in '85 or '86.

There were 2 Chargers in the movie. If you see it one time the wipers don't park and the rear view mirror is upside down. And then you see it when with the wipers parked and the rearview mirror right.

I saw it in the back of Darnell's yard the other day! :o

Never heard of it so i looked it up.
Quotefrom imdb:
Written while writer/director Ryan Dacko was stationed in Antartica for the Coast Guard, And I Lived is at various times a teen angst drama, a parable about class, a love story, a long and drawn-out car chase/drag race and an excuse to put 1037 montages into one film.

If that sounds remotely schizophrenic, you don't know the half of it. And I Lived is incredibly earnest when it's focused on story, but devolves into a confused mess towards the end. Occasionally it takes place in a small country town. Occasionally it seems to be in the city. Occasionally, you'll notice the school building just changes for no reason whatsoever. Just like it can't make up its mind where it takes place, the movie can't make up its mind what kind of movie it is.
