i have new lights for the hood mounted signals.  can someone explain how they are installed(correctly)and if they are flush in the recessed area. they have black areas on th lens to match the adjacent blacked out areas.  i cant seem to figure out what holds the lens on?  the gasket?  is it glued?  the frame is sandwiched but nothing screws into the lens.  is it wedged?   :shruggy: pictures would be great.  thanks.

they should be flush with the black out area.  can not tell you how the lenses are put on, never removed one.  You just push them in from the outside of the hood and then bolt them in.

thanks, i will give it a shot.  the holes are a little smaller after all the paint and bodywork.  didnt want to break them.

Here's what I did. I just finished reassembling my 69 after paint etc.
The last thing I installed were the hood signal lights. You guys probably figured out the lens ends just sit on the bracket wings which then hides them from sight. My car came with a lot of NOS/re-popped parts including new signal light lens and gaskets. The gaskets are a joke but I used them anyway. I mounted the bracket assemblies to the hood making sure they had a good ground. Then I firmly pushed the lens onto the little pegs and thought I was good to go. We take the finished car for a spin and found one of the lens missing when we got home............crap! Luckily I had the original lens one of which was good enough to reuse. I pulled the brackets back off the hood and mixed up a small bit of epoxy. I made sure the gaskets were still in place and put a small dab of epoxy on each end of the lens where it snugs up against the metal bracket when pushed into place. Then I spread a thin layer of clear sillycon adhesive over the tiny gap between the lens and the bracket smoothing/removing any excess so only that little gap was filled. Make sure the brackets and bulb socket are clean and corrosion free then apply a film of dielectric grease to the body of the plug socket and push it into place. This stuff will prevent corrosion and make the socket easier to pull out if you need to change a bulb.
Everything looks and works great now and the lens aren't going anywhere. The downside is if I ever have to replace a lens it may require the surgical use of a dremel tool. Hope this helps, Good luck.

Just a couple pix and I hope they help. One shows how the lens should look installed the other shows where to place a dab of epoxy to secure the lens to its bracket. Good luck!

Installing my repro hood blinkers. Obviously the lens are not labeled TOP or BOTTOM. The original was labeled on one side FRONT. My question is 2 fold:

There is 2 angles that meet to direct the light, on side of the angle being longer then the other. Should the longer part of the angle be facing up towards the sky or down towards the hood?
