this is a link to a hydraulic brake booster instead of vacuum brake booster. it is supposed to work with drum or disc brakes for engines with a bit of a cam in them.

the guy says he does all the work on getting these ready to go out and can make custom mounting plates for older cars. im thinking about trying this in my charger so i can keep my cam. no need for vacuum to have good brakes. this runs off the power steering pump. has anyone heard of this, or even tried it?

I have one from hydratech in mine and it is fantastic! One of the best upgrades I have done.

One note though, it will not work with 4 wheel drums. It will work though with disc up front and drum in the rear.

Not a hydraboost system like what you're looking at, but I've been kicking this around.

In general, very common in the automotive market where either vacuum or space is insufficient for the usual vac booster and M/C.

I worked at the company for a total of 24 yrs that had the patents on and manufactured the Hydroboost. (Bendix/AlliedSignal/Bosch).
Some examples I remember were certain years of some GM smaller vans, Lincoln Continental & Town Cars, Mustangs, some Ford light trucks, and various diesel engine applications.  I know there were many more applications but the memory fades after 4-5 yrs into retirement.

Model differences include firewall mounting brackets, accumulator capacity, and master cylinder configurations.
I couldn't find the link for the generic H'Boost manual but will post if found later.

Obviously there are aftermarket folks buying these units and then re-working and re-selling for the custom applications.

For the Medium-Heavy Trucks w/ hydraulic brakes, there was Hydro-Max, which was a similar but bigger capacity set-up for those higher GVW trucks.

I would think a vacuum reserve would cheaper...

i just picked up the vacuum reserve from the speed shop. no directions in there. guess i need to google it. has 1 mounted connection, and 1 in a bag. but there are 2 holes in the top of the cannister that arent plugged. but yes, it was 45 with tax. the hydroboost will be 203.00 shipped to my door. then i have to buy a corvette master cylinder (77 or newer) so i will be trying the vacuum reserve first. :2thumbs: but this seems to be a good backup to the vacuum set up. :yesnod:

Hydratech Hydro boost in mine as well.  :2thumbs:
AWESOME braking upgrade, works well with a Wilwood M/C. Excellent choice if you have a cam that does not produce much vacuum.
