Is there anything special about the 69 Hemi oil pan?

The plug threads are stripped in the (69 street) hemi oil pan. It is just a standard big block oil pan?

i dont know about a true difference, but there probably is.  I would just tap the hole larger to fit with a larger oil pan bolt and call it good.

MOPARHOUND!

Holds 5 quarts of oil versus 4 for the 68-69 440 "402" oil pans.

Galen's book also shows a 6 quart version.

Reproduced, available as a Mopar Performance item.

Inexpensive way to go is tap to next size up, as RD posted.

*Speed costs money son, how fast do you want to go, and for how long?"
*"Build the biggest engine you can afford the first time."
*"We normally wouldn't use a 383 for this build, parts and labor for a 440 cost the same."

I think you'll find that the readily available repop pan is for the '70-'71 Hemi/440, the '68-'69 Hemi pan isn't so readily available.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

If Troy wouldn't want it, I'd take it...  and thanks for nuttin, Chris!!!   :P

From what I found out, it looks like the '66-67 street Hemi pan was a 5-quart capacity, and the '68-69 Hemi pan held 6 quarts.  If yours is a '69 Hemi pan and you change to another style, you will end up having to replace the oil pickup as well.  The '68-69 Hemi pickup will not interchange with any other stock pan that I'm aware of due to its depth.

Seriously 3X, if you want to get rid of the pan & pickup, you'll have no problems finding a number of takers.  Even with the damage to the threads it's a valuable piece.

Ahhh,, man !!!!  Geno, you were here first...

But, to answer the question, yes, they are different per my previous thread I found out........ 6qt.s and no "402" stamped on it.....

Troy's hemi pan thread

But, if you don't want it Geno and if triple_green wants to sell, then I'd be game..

triple_green: the reproduction '70/'71 hemi oil pan looks dead on.......

Nah, I should probably take a pass even if 3X wants to sell.  He'd be entitled to the going price for one of those pans, and my shopping list for the Daytona is just too long right now.

I couldn't pass on the chance to bust Chris' chops a little bit though...   :icon_smile_big:
