How many amps does a Ignition system pull?

 Till I sort out the electrical demons from Miss Lumpy (68 Road Runner) I am hot wiring her so I can run her and get the motor loosen up. I want to be able to kill the ignition from inside the car.

For now I have a stock coil and a Accel Dual Point Distributor. I will be adding the ballast resistor before I starter her again. I did buy a 16 Amp switch, I would not think the ignition would pull over 16 amps, I just want to make sure.

You're fine Ken....no way a stock ignition draws anywhere near 16A

I think in fact barelly 5-8 amps
