Trying to figure out the best way to do it without destroying the pulley look and integrity. Thanks.
I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?

Whats wrong with the way they look, to shinny? If so scuff them up and paint them. From what I understand power coating is just a form of paint.

For a period correct restoration, they weren't powder coated back then.  There is also the thickness factor of the coating.
I want to get back to the metal and start over...  without having to sandblast it, which etches the metal.

Would paint stripper work, if powder coating is paint based?
Anyone ever do this?

Might try the stripper. Yep sand blasting would change the way the pulleys look. Might try theses folks.

I've used paint stripper to strip powder coat off a dragster chassis once.. took it off perfectly.  I remember using a certain brand that apparently was focused more at removing thicker paint like powder coating but I can't remember which. :rotz: Regular Aircraft paint remover from Advance or something would probably work fine though, might have to re-coat once or twice to remove it all. Obviously wait long enough to let it fully react.

Powder coat is paint and will come off with strippers like any other paint.

With paint stripper though the issue of cleaning it well after stripping is important. Some pulleys are more than one piece and have space for residue to hide.  Not good for future paint :Twocents:
