I like it, even considered doing it on mine, but I didn't want to live with that color.  With the right wheels/tires it would be an awesome car for sure, though...

yeah  done right  , for me it would have to  have a cage ,  fat tires on all four corners  , black steel wheels  or  slots  :yesnod:

would look mean & nasty !!  :coolgleamA:

saying that would never paint mine satin black though  :shruggy:

satin black is becoming too common now, imo.  How about satin white instead? :popcrn:  I've only seen it on a handful of vehicles and never in person

That's sort of the idea I had when I was trying to figure out what color to paint my car last year.  I was going to gut the interior, install a cage, and hang sheet metal instead of interior padding; the only adornments being my aftermarket Procar seats and a custom dash with aftermarket gauges.  Add the satin black or matte black and a set of 18" Torq-thrust 'ish wheels and I think it would've been cool.

However, a re-application of orange and a full interior won in the end.  Going to cruises/car shows with a full load of passengers makes me glad I didn't go the "rat-rod" route.  Maybe someday, somehow, I'll get my hands on another 2nd Gen and pursue the satin black machine idea again...

I think a charger in primer looks good.
Satin is even better.

Yeah.

It should.

It's a movie.

I went to see it at the drive-in with my girlfriend in 1980.

Do you know what that is?

Drive-in ?

I suppose it's better than rust or primer. I'd rather see a cheap MACCO paint job if it came down to satin/flat black.
Doing the MadMax look on these cars is a crime IMO.

Gotta agree Satin Black is tired looking to me and it seems like a cop out of doing a good paint job...I do however like them on Rat Rod type cars...just not Muscle cars...
But to each their own....If you want satin Black Go for it

I love it. It's really mean looking. And yeah, it was cheap. But a lot of people think its mean. A lot of others say it's becoming common, really? Maybe on other cars like rat rods and such, but 68-70s  :shruggy:
Remember, your saying satin. Not primer

Is it harder to keep clean?   Not shiny is not smooth.

I'm pretty sure they're equally hard to keep clean. The shine because you see everything. The satin because you see everything.

They have this stuff now:

I wonder how it works on flat black hoods like A12 cars or AAR-T/A's.  :scratchchin:
