I'm restoring my 74 Rallye 360 Charger. I decided to remove the heater box to replace the heater core and blower motor, clean everything, replace insulation, etc. This car did not come with A/C but the A/C was installed by a dealer which required holes in the cowl for hoses and in the dash frame just to the right of the ashtray for controls. I'm trying to decide If I should eliminate this under dash A/C unit for good. It has to be removed to change the heater parts and the glove box can't fit in now. When you open the glove box door, you see the side of the A/C unit. I'm going to show this car but have considered installing A/C from Classic Air. I have a second 74 Charger that has factory A/C that I'll fix up to use as a driver on nice sunny days. I could remove the A/C from it to put in the Rallye but is it worth it? I'm putting in another dash frame to get rid of the holes in the Rallye dash. Any thoughts or suggestions? The second 74 Charger is a 318 standard Charger but I'll modify it to be a nice driver for trips. I've considered updating it's A/C unit instead. Thoughts.

Hello, you could do a little of both. Keep it original looking in the interior but have a Classic Air set-up. Meaning use the after market unit under the dash but have the duct work run to the factory style vents. With some mods it can be done.

A member on here bill440r/t did it with his '69 Charger. There's a thread in here somewhere on his project.

However under the hood will not have the original look but you can make it look clean. It depends if you want a total resto looking car or something that has a modern A/C system to keep you cool while cruising your Charger on hot days.

Hope that helps.

Also do you have an A/C dash frame in place? If not I have one.
