It could be worth as much as $15,000 to the "right collector".  There's a growing market for well preserved examples of late 70's through 80's luxury barges, but the mileage will absolutely kill this one.

That car is in the running for having the most generic looking body style ever designed. No Bézier curve tool needed at the drawing board for that design; just a good old ruler and compass (mostly a ruler). It could have even been done on an Etch A Sketch pretty easily.

Other cars in the running are all from the same era, e.g., K-car, Diplomat, Caprice, St. Regis, Crown Victoria.

The way he's taken care of that car over the years, you'd think it was a Hemi 'Cuda. Unfortunately for him, it is just an el generico '85 Lincoln Town Car that probably handles like a steamroller on greased glass, and isn't worth more than several thousand dollars to most people even if it was NOS.

Problem with the new every day muscle cars is that everyone is doing it.   I guess it can't hurt.   But every car will be "documented".

Exactly. Most things that are "collectible" were never intended to be. They were just things.
Today's items that are marketed as "collectible" or instant classics may not be as such in the future.

YUP, I know many folks right now who are doing it their chargers/challengers I personally know one guy with a 08 charger he has saved every paper from this dealership, took pics of the dealership, where it was parked at the dealership, photos of the manager, salesman, etc...every little detail when he got it in 08 off the lot.  Till this day he tells me his 'charger' is the most documented car available and worth at least 80k he claims.  He had a craigs ad up awhile back last year asking 80k for it and claims 'appraiser' valued it at such price.  He does not drive it either he probably now has 3k miles on it.....thats it and garages it for that special day when he can put it on barret jackson auction block.

My dad is the sole owner of a 1978 Town Car with 15,000 original miles. It has been stored since new and has a 460. It's original minus a fuel filter and one battery cable. I don't think it would bring half of what he wants for that one. On second thought, maybe call Gas Monkey.
