Went car shopping since I'm back to work part time, wife said we should get a car that gets better gas mileage than what we have now. Looked around the garage and came up with a solution, 5.0, 420 hp and 25 mpg. :icon_smile_big: Back in the day if somebody told me this combination was possible I would have said they were crazy. Sadly the nearest Dodge dealer is an hours drive.

I do like the mustangs :2thumbs:  They actually remind me of the original in style.  As opposed to the camaro.

My 09 challenger gets 24mpg at 75mph with a 6.1 hemi.  You could have had a dodge :shruggy:

JB400

At least you picked a fine time to get a Mustang.  Prices are dropping so they can clear inventory for the new redesign coming out in April.

6spd68

Who else here has seen the redesign?   :eek2:

I think you made the right choice with this one.

Have driven 3 different GT convertibles, not let down once.  Comfortable, peppy, and an overall fun experience to drive.  Actually enjoyed it a lot more then the Challenger R/T.

This is what they're going to do? http://www.vehicles2014.com/2015-ford-mustang/

Good grief. That thing is ugly as homemade shoes. That's the worst looking Mustang since the Mustang II (AKA: "Pinto 'Stang").

I bet the 2005–2014 body style will eventually become collectible due to people that want something that actually looks like a Mustang rather than a poor man's Aston Martin. It will probably end up being thought of as the last generation of "real" Mustangs.

And it looks like they're coming out with or already have a 4-door Mustang sedan too? http://www.roadandtrack.com/go/first-looks/2014-ford-mustang-sedan

Unbelievable. It wouldn't surprise me if the Mustang is eventually only available as a 4-door. That's probably where the Challenger and Camaro are headed too.

JB400

That is not the redesign.  That's just a concept car.  We won't really know what it looks like until April for the 50th anniversary.

I was thinking a Huyndai or a KIA or something, but if you can swing a new 5.0 then good for you; love those cars, as they're the best that Mustang has ever been!   :2thumbs:

I had a 2012 Mustang 5.0 w/ 6 speed. I know Ford says 20+ mpg, but I NEVER averaged over 12 mpg and was usually closer to 10.5 mpg. I'll admit, I drove it like a 400+ horsepower car should be driven, but I didn't know how to drive a car like that any other way. Maybe it's possible to get great gas mileage in one, but you'd have to drive it like a you've got a minivan full of kids.

It's one hell of a fun car, though. And, fast. Very fast.

In all honesty, the new 5.0 Mustang is probably the best new sub-supercar I've driven.  They handle a lot better then the new Camaros or Challengers (SRT-8 being the exception, even though it still feels a lot bulkier).  They're quick and have great pep to boot.  That 302 screams nicely.

***Side story, I get to rent cars from AVIS for work.  Have had the opportunity to take all of those 3 out this year and last.  The Mustang honestly feels like a better over-all experience to me.

Nice, you don't even need to look at the date of the article; had I actually read the whole article I would have seen "Update: April Fools" at the bottom, but I didn't care to read an article about something as ridiculous as a 4-door Mustang. I guess that explains the low-quality pictures full of jpeg compression artifacts, which is uncharacteristic of pictures in a major magazine article.

I still wouldn't put it past them to come out with a 4-door Mustang for real; just look at what's called a "Dodge Charger" today.
