I'm building a 500-600 hp 440 and I plan to go EFI instead of carbureted.  I'm having trouble figuring out what system to go with.

There's FAST, EZ EFI, and others with prices ranging from $2,000-$5,000. I'd much rather spend $2,000 than $5,000 and I'd also prefer to buy a kit with everything in, but I could make an exception for an intake.

I'd also prefer something with good installation instructions.

I went with the Fast EZ efi for the ease of instal and tuning without a laptop. Had to upgrade the charging system and make sure I had sufficient vacuum. My kit came from  Scott Brown @Competition Components ,used the multi port injection upgrade,600 hp fuel pump, and for Charger owners there,s lot,s of clearance for flat hoods.

Are you talking about the Six barrel EFI Intake system?
Yes

I may be wrong, but that seems like extra complexity. There's not a lot of information on their website so I could be wrong.

That looks like a nice kit and a pretty good price. Was there anything else you had to buy in addition to the kit?

How did you do your gas tank? I found a fuel injection tank that looks stock for $700, but that's pretty expensive.

I spent another $750-$1000 Canadian for 20' braided fuel injection hose , estimated 15 pieces of Russell 6an fittings, competition engineering tank sump installed and leak tested etc.

Its of my opinion that TBI kits are over rated. Sure, will fire up and run cold but you in effect have traded a carb for an electronic carb. Theres still the problem of a wet flow system as far as intake design goes.
Imo, PORT FI is the way to go, but here again, very few intakes out there.
Alotta money to just be able to say its injected..

I think the pros are worth the small added costs.

Fuel injected 360 Magnum getting 14-17 mpg in my 1999 ram....
My sons busted 1984 dodge truck with carb'd 360 Magnum, 3speed TF, and weak as rainwater 2.76:1 gears getting 12-17 mpg...
Fuel injection aftermarket kits cost in the $3k range at least.
Carb/intake cost about $850.00 new depending on where you get it.

Other than the 'trick' aspect  and drivability, tell me again bout those pros?

I don't care about gas mileage (or the cost of fuel) so I don't list that as a pro, even though efi will probably do better there over the life of an engine. I live in a small town and don't drive enough to care.

I consider the 'trick' aspect to be a con, actually. When I lift the hood, I would rather show someone an original motor than efi.

However, I want efi for winter drivability, remote start, instant altitude adjustments, and reliability. A carburetor can only be set to one 'ideal' setting. I live in the Rocky Mountains and when I visit family a couple hundred miles away, I'll see altitude changes of several thousand feet. I'll also see temperatures ranging from 95 in the summer to -10 in the winter. I won't be driving in the snow, but if the roads are dry I do drive my classics in the winter.

I'd have to buy an intake and carb anyway if I don't go efi, so efi would only cost an extra ~$2000. A small price to pay on a $50K build for the benefits.

Each manufacturers system has it good points and bad, but dollar for dollar, I think you get more from the Fast EZ EFI kits. You can pick up a simple EZ EFI throttle body base kit for around $1200. :Twocents:

They look like great kits at a great price. Do you know if they have multi port? I would take tbi, but prefer multi.

They handle either or... very flexible units. Plenty of information on their web pages, as well as other on line sources.... or a phone call.
