I just on to tail pipes on my exhaust , making my own 3 inch system, cross over done, hooker straight through mufflers, 2 inch primary headers
I am under no illusions that this victor headed 511 stroked big block is going to be very loud ,
what have others done to get rid of that awful drone that comes automatically and get this car somewhere near street legal, decibels wise
have you added hot dogs , ? which are the best glass packed , louvred internals to trap gas's and noise , length , who's tried what  and results

Currently running tti 2" headers to tti x-pipe 3" throughout and then dumping them right before the rear axle. It is pretty damn loud. We like it, but we also don't want to be assholes and come home late at night and wake everyone up for a 2 mile radius. :) So we are going to try out some ultraflows as Ron suggested to see if it brings the music down a bit. We are only bored 40 over so we are around 508cu in, but I'm sure yours will be pretty similar. haha...

Thanks lol the people in my local area are going to hate me if I ever arrive back late at night from a drive or show

I just had the shop I use pull the magnaflows off my RR and put on 3" dynomax super turbos.  I was losing hearing if I didn't wear ear plugs every time I drove the car-it was that loud.  505" with 2" Doug's headers, 3" pipes with H pipe through the mufflers and out to 3" factory style tips.  Dropped off yesterday am and picked it up in the afternoon.  Sounds sweet, I might still plug but at least I can now have a conversation and hear the traffic over the exhaust.  BTW, I went with the 17769s, 23" long and 5-1/2" x 11" case mufflers.  They're big.

Just got a set of ultraflows installed today with the rest of the TTI back and I must admit... it's probably too quite for our tastes. It sounds damn good, but too quite. Though putting on a set of electric cutouts will be the next thing we do.

Thanks guy's for replying , will be a big help, because of size engine registration authority's here have set formula's for noise levels, because of engine size 440, test done with engine at 2800 rpm , not in power band yet at that rpm, but has to be 96 decibal's maximum ,

fy469rtse

Thanks Ron , that's what I was looking for , been doing a fair bit of reading on this ,
For noise you need the perforations, louvres would be better, as noise experts say that the noise waves are pressed to the out side pushing to get out, but can't find that type glass packed or long , maximum I could find was about 12 inches,  and these being glass packed will trap the noise , could only find one or the other over here in Australia , the extra long length will help, have welded flanges in certain area's so if this fails , can just unbolt mufflers. Replace the with flow blockers to get her registered and the swap back later , if it does fail I hope by not too much , police over here has EPA sensors by the side of the road , cops waiting further down to pull any one over that's too loud

Going to get a reading on noise level before race bullets installed then after, we don't have a lot of option for where to put mufflers,
So has any one thought of using like race bullet in the straight sections before mufflers and as Ron suggested in the tail pipe area, would this help and it's before my electric cut outs, so they will function at the strip like intended.

Thanks again guys , just finished using all the links to video footage and sound, great help, god some of those , no sorry all those cars are gorgeous, got some ideas now on what to do,

I think you'll have better results installing the long bullet mufflers in the tailpipe area.  :yesnod:

The Black Pig's 572 pump gas engine uses 3in Ultraflow mufflers with a 3.5 x 3 X-pipe and 3in tailpipes and it's not too loud....and i don't have resonators. Uncapped it's pretty impressive though  :icon_smile_big:

Thanks Ron, authority's here are going to far , we call them the fun police here , I was thinking of doing both, tail pipes and before mufflers and cut outs , just trying to find a combination that will get her on the street, might just have to put on a set of flow bastards for cruising, and change them out for the strip, that friends engine had to have the cam degree , as it was installed was 11 retarded, not bad for the timing marks lining up, after getting the cam measured to know specs , should have been 4 advanced , put you off buying a crate motor

Holy Crap....11* retarded ! No wonder it ran like poo poo  :eek2: Was the cam incorrectly ground or were the marks off on the timing set ? Bet it runs much better now  :icon_smile_big:

I would recommend avoiding the Flowbastards....very restrictive. A set of Ultaflows with race bullets as resonators will be fairly tame....and will flow almost as good as straight pipe. Then when you hit the track you can simply uncap the cutouts. I placed my 3.5in cutouts about 10in back from the collector and angled them slightly down to keep heat off the floorpans.  ;)

Where is a good place to get 3" race bullets that will fit in the tailpipe next to the gas tank?   I'm considering resonators to quiet down the UltraFlows at highway speeds.

I posted a link to the large race bullets @ Summit Racing earlier in this thread   ;)
