How long have you have had your Charger, doing nothing with it?

Doing a little everyday is how I do any big project. Saves all of the time catching up were you left off.. :2thumbs:

That is actually good advice,  for a long term project such as this,  sometimes you just get tired of working on cars, but i try to force myself to do something, however minor on the car each weekend, I have a chair and a TV in my garage (as well as a laptop) its pretty much my mancave and I spend a LOT of time out there on the weekend, and not every moment is working on the cars,  but every weekend I try to do something with the charger and something to the stealth turbo sitting next to it and eventually I'll have one to keep and one to sell, and with the slow pace of things, I'll get to see both go up in value as they get older.

Today, I painted the roof of the stealth black, and on the charger installed the replacement hood hinge on the charger, only to have the inner hood bolt bar come loose again, thought i'd welded that secure but it broke loose inside the hood and I can't get the 2nd bolt in to hold the hood secure, can't shut the hood without fixing it, so now i have something else to work on tomorrow or next weekend.

Ive had my charger for approximately a year, i try and start it every couple of weeks. All ive done is buy parts for it, but hopefully will start the build in the next month.

six years doing nothing, 3kids, house and work eats garage hours. Hopfully this winter the charger can get some attention.

The green 69 RT in my avatar was bought as a project in Jan. of 1999. One year later in Feb. 2000, I bought another that eventually became my parts car. I got married in Sept. of 2000, and between 2002 to 2008, I had 3 kids, bought a house, basically everything starting my life.

Pretty much from the time I bought it until late '08/early '09, my car sat in the garage. During that time I stripped the parts car, sold off what I didn't need, bought up parts when I had extra cash, and did small 'resto projects' like restoring the grille, console, cleaning/painting parts I planned on re-using, etc. In early 09 is when I got serious about doing my body work, By fall of 2010, I finally painted it. Reassembly went down hill from there... to me it seem like the biggest hump to over come was body/paint.

I work a job that during the spring/summer months I work a lot of overtime, so that limits how much I can work on my projects, so most of the work performed was done during fall/winter months. Also along the way, I worked on cars on the side, bought/flipped a few cars, to fund my project.

I will say this also, I don't know if its because I'm in a different stage in my life, or because I got one build "under my belt" seems like my 68 project is moving along a lot faster than the 69 did. I pretty much have all the metal work done (had to replace floor pans, trunk floors, and patch a few places here and there) and it ready to start all the filler work and priming.

Yes, it is a shame. I just realized its rarity after joining this Forum.
I had the engine up on blocks behind my girlfriend's house, Uncle Sam called, followed by the proverbial 'Dear John' letter, so its gone.
I actually just located some old pictures from 77' with me pulling the engine. Amazing the things we accomplished by ourselves at that young age - like lying on your back, pressing the A-833 into position...

What's more of a shame are the cars and parts I remember being crushed, and/or discarded for junk. My Mopar interest began around 1974-76 and anything could be had for a few dollars.

Bought it in 1991.....let it sit while I was raising a family, and during that time Dodge Fever festered into a full blown addiction. 

Started on the restoration 6-7 years ago, and got it on the road for the first time a couple months ago. 


Bull has the right idea....do not let the scope of the project weigh you down.   Bite off small pieces, keep at it, eventually you'll get there.


Anyway...the answer for me is around 15 years.

mine's been sitting for going on 7 years now...I pull it out of the barn and clean the dust off about every 2 years and tell myself i'm going to start on it but it's always right about then that something comes up  :brickwall:

just shot a coat of primer then he looked inside,
well him and my uncle tore that engine down,
I still remember that rumblin' sound.....

This is for all those that stare.. for years... at a torn-apart mopar in the garage and despair.

My brother bought it in 88 and he tore it down to restore in 1990. Then life happened. My brother had the car stripped for over 20 years. Nothing done.
Many times wondering what the hell was he was thinking of.
Here it is 20 years later.
