Pretty sure hemi's got the Federal pump (round tube reservoir) and the other engines got the Saginaw (oval tube reservoir).

Unfortunately, I do not have a Hemi, it's a 440.  It is auto, Dana (4.10), if that makes a difference.  No Track Pak or STP.  Very confusing, I have seen Federal, TRW, Saginaw, with and w/o Cooler.  Any ideas?

will be a Saginaw  ,  not sure what the  deal with the power steering coolers , think they were with track pack option ,   :scratchchin:
would of assumed a Dana & 4.10  gears  from the factory would of had a cooler  :scratchchin:
i'm no expert , I await to be corrected  :yesnod:

BigBlockSam

i thought that big blocks got either the Trw or Saginaw pumps . the federal were for small blocks in 69-70. . the federal pump and the Trw look a like  only the notch on the back is different .
I won't be wronged, I wont be Insulted and I wont be laid a hand on. I don't do these things to others, and I require the same from them.

Yes.  1969 440 HP's got the Saginaw. 3.54 and higher gears got the cooler with it.

Hemi's got the Federal....seen some with cooler....most without....that's a whole different discussion/debate.

Speedfreak

For once has the right setup, one less thing to buy.

I wonder why they used a Federal on the Hemi, are they better?  It seems if anything, better, heavier components are used on Hemi cars. Regardless, this one is staying.

340's too. Maybe they were better suited to higher RPM's?

If you have 4.10's and an auto you have the Super Performance Axle Package, which certainly would have come with the cooler.

They dropped that nomenclature in favor of 'super track pack' in '71 for auto cars, probably because it made no sense to have two identical packages with different names.

I've never gotten an answer beyond "well that's the way it was."

Yup - 440 with 4.10 and Auto trans was called the Super Perf. as Doug stated. Code was A32. I have a Daytona with the same package. They definitely, 100% came with the Saginaw pump and a cooler.
