Even Ted's Wife Can't Bring Her Gun On A Plane

The article says "carry on BAG, it does not specifically say luggage. This bag could have been and likely was, her purse. The contents of my wife's purse are a complete and utter mystery. Although she doesn't carry a gun, I am sure there are more items in her purse that she has forgotten about than there are that she knows are there. I've gotten stopped at the local courthouse metal detector on my way to get documents or for jury duty more thimes than I can count because I forgot I was carrying a pocket knife. Stuff happens.

However, for someone who is in the public eye as much as they are and probably travels more in a week than I will in a lifetime, this was something she should have checked for. Just my :Twocents:...

Putting a handgun in a piece of luggage and forgetting it is there is just stupid! A lot of handguns are found this way by the TSA so, ....... I guess there are a lot of stupid people flying these days, Or, stupid gun owners as a gun in your baggage isn't going to do you much good if you need it!

Or stupid people assuming what they read is accurate? I'm betting she had it in her purse and it was NOT carry on luggage, which brings you right back to having the wallet or keys in your pocket and having it on your mind 100% of the time. Not gonna happen regardless of how "stupid" someone thinks it is.

Mrs. Ted does have a Texas concealed carry permit.
I've taken the concealed carry class here in Texas, not a lot to it. ::)
Personally I find it almost incomprehensible that a person could forget where his/her handgun is. :slap:
Not exactly in the same category as a hair brush.

While I agree it's not very bright - I don't think it's necessarily "irresponsible". If you carry a gun all the time then you're still expected to know you're carrying a gun! But, in this case, everything happened the way it was supposed to (security caught it, owner fessed up to it, owner was arrested, owner gets to deal with it legally). The guy here whose 2 year old daughter shot herself in the leg after finding a loaded 9mm in the bedside table is irresponsible.

Harrison Ford is a pilot and has a fleet of airplanes and his own airport I believe. Lots of celebrities (and other rich folk) use charter services to fly around. In the grand scheme of things, it's not that much more expensive (and it's a LOT less hassle) than flying commercially - especially if you fly first class!

One more time for the people in the back...

It's not a matter of "forgetting" where something is. If I ask you where your car keys are, there is a 99% chance you know exactly where they are. However 99% of the time over the course of the day, You're not thinking about your keys. You can ask me any day at any time and I can tell you exactly where my guns are, but most of the time I'm not thinking about my guns, regardless of where I am.

It's only a big deal because it's Nugent's wife and the haters like to drag their anti-2nd Amendment agenda out into the public arena every chance they get.

Haters did it? Second amendment mentioned?   :shruggy:   It's just a news story, albeit more of a trash story, just like when big mouth, hypocrite Ted runs his mouth in public or Lindsey Lohan drives drunk.

If by chance you're referring to me as the hater for posting it, that's not true at all. I'm not anti-gun, I'm anti-stupid. An irresponsible gun owner like Mrs. Ted is stupid. There is no excuse what so ever for forgetting you have a gun on you, & it's no where close to being an item in your pocket like a wallet or keys. As a matter of fact, the gun was not on her, it was in a bag which is more dangerous. If she forgot she had it in the bag then she wouldn't know it was missing from the bag if it was taken.

Some of my friends hunt & own guns & some go target shooting. I have gone with them target shooting so please don't think that I have some kind of agenda regarding guns. :Twocents:

I don't know if you're a hater or not. I was talking about the news people trying to make fodder out of this, as if it's such a rare thing. They not only love controversy they seem to especially love it when an enemy of socialism screws up, sometimes only according to their definition of screwing up.

And why is Nugent stupid? What has he said that is stupid? You may not like his impassioned and often reactionary delivery but I don't recall hearing many of his opinions I'd consider to be stupid. But then I'm of a different mindset than you I think.

I rarely carry my gun so there's very little chance I'd forget where it's at. When have it I think about it often. If I carried as much as I assume Nugent's wife carries there's a definite chance it would slip my mind. I constantly carry my Gerber 4" blade knife with me and there's a good chance if I went flying I'd forget all about it. My wife used to carry mace around all the time and she got "busted" at the airport with it more than once before a flight. She just told them to keep it the last time because she was tired of dealing with the hassle.

I've always thought Ted was alot more articulate than most other rockers that I've seen,  with maybe the exception of Dee Snider from Twisted Sister, he can also deliver the goods when he needs to, he surprised congress when he testified in front of them.

I think owning a gun (I have a safe full) comes with a certain amount of responsibility with it.  I make sure mine are locked up and accounted for at all times.  While I can't always tell what I have in my pockets, I can dang sure tell you exactly where my guns are at all times.  It's an innocent mistake sure enough, but I think they realize that it's one that shouldn't be made, especially when they are in the public eye, particularly about their stance on gun control.  - Politics aside, any responsible gun owner should agree that it was careless to forget about where the gun was.  Granted it's not a major infraction, but it's careless non the less.  I would assume by her apology she and Ted understand this, and would have to agree.

It doesn't matter if it's your car keys, firearm or whatever (insert any other inanimate object you carry every day). It's the same thing. The only reason people are making a fuss about it is who it was. If Michael Moore did it, I bet most people that are crying about it now would overlook it.

Nope, dumb is dumb & it doesn't make a bit of difference to me which imbecile forgets they have a weapon at the airport.

Oh, and remind me never to ask you if you have change of a $20, you might shoot yourself in the foot with the pistol in your pocket that you forgot you had.
