I recently aquired a 73 charger SE, with the deal the guy gave me what he claimed to be the numbers matching motor and transmission Seperate with car. I'd like to know if anyone could decode these numbers for me;

Motor,
4-7-73
3698630.  400.  2
3029634- Right pan rail

Torquefight- PK4028424 5583 3276

Any help would vbe wonderful, Thanks, Dan.

on the engine, the vin or partial vin should be stamped on passengers side just above the oil pan, none of the numbers you listed look like the vin...

and the transmission should also have the vin or partial vin stamped on a pad on the passenger side of the bell housing...unfortunately, according to the link below, it doesn't look like that is your original trans...part #4028424 is from a 76-77 non-HP 440

Look closer at the second character, it should be a letter instead of a digit. The letter will identify the assembly plant and the 3 preceding it signifies 1973 model year. If the last digits match your dash VIN tag you have a numbers matching engine but the trans definitely isn't.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.
