Was there just one of these things or two? I'm thinking there was just one on the passenger side about where the back of the door is? :shruggy:

Only one hook in 68? :shruggy: I've only got one to install but that doesn't mean anything.

I guess I'll be in the market for a pair. :popcrn:

Both my 66's have 2, I know a lot of 67's that only came with one, and I didn't put the shoulder belts or the coat hooks back in the 70 when we turned it into the pointy purple car

2 here on my 69.  Did we find another difference between same gen models?
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

green69rt

I remember my old 69 had one on each side.  I used them to hang a clothes bar across the back seat when my wife and I were driving cross country.

Nacho-RT74

having one, the provision should be still there for the second I guess

?

1 or 2. :shruggy: I swear, other than screwing the antenna mast on not one single part of this restoration has been simple. Complexity and ambiguity at every turn.

Nacho-RT74

dunno if you got what I meant, but just in case I want to get it cleared. I don't think you get two diff roof frames for one or 2 coat hanger cars, it must be just about dealer options. Being the same roof FOR ALL CARS, even getting just one hanger on one side, THE PROVISION on roof must be there for the other side. If you want to add it on, go for it!

Is like adding extra electrical accesories. My car didn't came originally with lights on warning buzzer option, BUT the plug was there on underdash harness ready to plug it on getting the parts for the option ( buzzer and extra harness )... and I did it, when it was wired like 71s ( 74 Chargers in Venezuela were wired something like 71s )

When I become my car on a full 74 USA version, with 74 underdash harness and everything, the option was added simply changing the buzzer from the just seatbelt and ign key function to the FULL WARNING BUZZERS option... no even need to add wiring. The existant plug accepts both buzzer setups.

so in your case it must be just about options sold, but provisions must be there for any kind of option available on our cars.

That is true I'm sure. There is probably two spots for hangers on all of them but I would think there would have been some uniformity as to how many were actually installed. That said I doubt this was a dealer option thing. I dunno, maybe it was. :shruggy:

66 & 67 coat hooks were both chrome metal, different design for each year...I'm unsure as to the type of material used in the 68's

Soft? :shruggy: Anyway, it does seem to indicate singular. Although it doesn't specify which side.

Thanks for the brochure pics.

67's with the single hook were on the drivers side...that way the driver would not have to walk all the way around the car. Plus, it would be a bigger blind spot if clothing was hung on passenger side only

Well, I was referring to the mast only. I failed to mention the hour it took before that to file all the paint out of the mounting hole just to get the base to fit.

Can someone tell me how to locate the mounting hole for my coat hook?

I out all the fasteners in before I installed the headliner so I could locate them.
I am looking for hooks still.

Thanks for the pic but could you give me a blow-by-blow of what I'm seeing? What's under the blue X?

green69rt

Just butting in...the shiny thing is the snap that holds the end of the seat belt.  The blue x marks the location of the screw hole for the coat hook.  The diagonal distance between the center of the two holes is 1 5/8" exactly (as far as my old eyes can tell.)

edit: added pic with head liner removed.

edit #2:  69 charger

Ok, the snap was messing with my head. So in your pic the lower rear hole is where the coat hook mounts, correct? Except your pic shows the passenger side, and some cars didn't have one on that side... we think. :eek2:

Thanks for thee pic. I think I can figure it out now. :2thumbs:
