Question about rubber splash covers (for UCA access)

I thought I asked this question before but I'll be dipped if I can find it now. Anyway, I'm prepping the front wheel wells for undercoating and I've got the rubber UCA access cover on the driver's side clipped to the outside of the inner fender and the passenger side cover clipped to the inside. Now that I think about it it seems they both should be on the outside or else how could a suspension guy remove them to access the UCA bolts, right?

I went by these pictures posted by Shakey a while back. The first pic is how I have mine installed but now I don't think it's right. I believe the other side is correct though (pic 2).

Bull like you I put both on the outside, , they seemed to fit better , and for the same reason fo access for wheel alignment bolts  Geoff

I agree.  Seems silly to have one on one side and the other going from a different installation point but thats how they did it!

Hmmm... ok. Strange as it is I'll leave it the way I got it. Actually, I tried it out as if I were going to tighten the UCA nut and the cover can easily be pushed in for access. :shruggy: What threw me off is that there are 2-3 small holes below in the frame rail that look like clip holes.

Hmmm.

Only one of mine was on the engine side......the passenger rear.

I don't mean to disagree but ........My car was an unmolested, original car with everything in place and all my splash shields were factory mounted from the outside. All the clip holes on the frame rails are on the outside.

It doesn't make sense  (to me) why three should have been mounted on the outside and one on the inside.  :shruggy:

Tomorrow is promised to no one.......drive your Charger today.

Mine were original and both mounted from the outside,
I imagine it could be mounted from inside,
but both my brake line and the body flange would not make it as neat looking.

It doesn't make sense that one is one way and the other is the other, however, another thing that makes no practical sense is that an alignment guy would try taking all those stupid little clips out to get behind the flap. They're not exactly user-friendly.
