Hi

i have the power windows option on my '69 Charger. Since a few days, the windows doesn't work. I have bench tested the safety relay, it does work, but the power windows not. Now i have checked the wires to the safety relay (big red, 12V from ammeter, big tan to master switch, thin tan 12V contact, grounded on the body) and the thin tan wire (contact positive i think) does not have 12 V with contact on, so the relay cannot work. Where does the power to this cable come from? I don't have the safety relay on my power windows wiring diagram. I aslo tested to put directly 12V on the bigger tan cable(going to the master switch), then the windows are working.  :shruggy: Please help me. I hope you understand my bad english :-\
Best regards from Luxembourg

my 66 has a circuit breaker behind the drivers kick panel for power to my electric windows

Hi

My circuit breaker is behind the ammeter. The big red wire has 12V, so the circuit breaker is ok.

I would imagine that the power to pull in the safety relay comes from the ignition switch via a fuse.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

It's solved. The thin tan wire goes to te radio and from the radio to the fusebox (red/tray wire).

So the window relay gets its power from the radio fuse in the fusebox?

Yes, the first fuse from the left. From there to the radio and to the windows safety relay.

This answers a couple of questions I had about this for my 69 coronet.  I am now using a temp. toggle switch until I can find a relay that is correct :2thumbs:
