Looks like termites got to the right fender.  I'm surprised he hasn't had that fixed.  Looks like the left is a little thin too.  This one won't be a survivor too much longer.

Nothing worse than a car that's hacked up to be a convertible when it wasn't designed that way, just ask GM.  Point is, the new Challenger is only better than the old one if that's what you're looking for.  These generational slights are pointless and serve no purpose...

I don't have any problem with that. The bottom line is that Any object is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I used to want a big block Challenger and my dream car was a Hemi Cuda. Collectors have driven up the prices on these cars so high that now people are willing to also pay big bucks for rusted out hulks. Not me. After passing on several project Challengers, I settled on a new 392 Challenger. I still like the old Challengers, but for me to pay $50K for a nice 70 Challenger or $50K for a new one, the choice was obvious. Also, I never said the new Challenger is the Mopar to end all Mopars, you did. BTW, I'd also take the cruise control and the power window motors out of the rusty Challenger.

No.  I don't have a problem with your opinion.  I have a problem with the "old vs new" attempts at trolling threads; something I've been guilty of as well.  And I never said the new Challenger is anything, YOU DID with that whole "newer is better line" of yours.  And you clearly DO have a problem with older cars at their (ridiculous) price levels, or do you not see the resentment in your own words?

If a group of people are talking about old OR new then they should be left in peace to do so, but, your comment about "taking the bucket seats" and "not overpaying for an old Challenger when the new one is so much better than the old one" is obvious trolling against this particular car and the people admiring it.

If you like old, fine.  If you like new, fine, I couldn't care less; personally I prefer 'new 'tech in old cars' but I won't crash a discussion based on my particular prejudices against one or the other.  This particular thread was intended to discuss a car at auction, not which cars everyone thought was better than the car in the auction.  Anything else is just an attempt to incite or inflame which, I guess you somewhat succeeded...

Wow Myk, I didn't know you were the thread police. My real point in my original comment on the rusty Challenger, that evidently wasn't clear to you (and I apologize for that fact) is that this particular car is already at $22K and expected to go higher!! Why? OK, it's a rag top, but it's also a low optioned, 383 2 barrel car. Did Galen Govier bless this thing? I've seen plenty of people here trash our beloved Chargers for merely having a 383 in it. So I'm only pointing out that for the price of this "survivor" car which isn't in that good of shape you could buy something like this:

Reality sucks. Sorry I couldn't agree the ragtop was a good buy. I'm also pretty sure that people are allowed to disagree with one another here. You could have agreed the car was a good or bad deal but decided go after me for allegedly changing the subject of the thread, in which somehow YOU actually managed to do.

I do see a lot of crazy things going on these days with classic car prices as well as used parts pricing. I admit it sucks. now shoot me.
