I was thinking more along the lines of they'd get caught stealing and have their hands chopped off  :yesnod:  and Australians that trace their family back to first fleet convicts think their something special over here, we're proud of our convict heritage . dumped here  and left to die ,instead flourished

In all fairness though, a lot of them were shipped off to Australia for just having stolen a loaf of bread or something to eat. Which explains why the jails were so overcrowded in the first place, hence the need to ship them off to a new land.

QuoteThis is what Rush was talking about today. . . It helps to actually listen to Rush before you start farting out of your mouth without having any basis in fact.

My mother grew up in the same small Missouri town as Rush.  Her whole side of the family is there.  They have all spent plenty of time in church and voted for plenty of conservative candidates.

Guess what they have all thought about Rush for decades?

OK, still waiting for you to tie in the NRA and Haliburton. ::)

Just wondering - does it matter who the source was if the information is true? So many people are so quick to dismiss something purely because of who broke the story. I read it all, strip out the spin/agenda and usually find something in the middle that resembles the truth.

I hate to admit it but I was flipping channels to the baseball game while driving to lunch and specifically heard Rush quote an article in an Australian paper. He was pointing out the fact that the news overseas would actually ask questions and print what no news here would. You know, actual reporting. ;) Didn't hear any of the rest of the program but did poke around on the internet when I got back to the office. Obviously, everyone has an agenda and the news in other countries tends to report anything that makes the US look bad where, here in this country, only specific groups are made to look bad and the rest is shoved under the rug.

I'm not opposed to the raw idea that Rush Limbaugh can make some valid points.  Politically incorrect people often do.

The National Enquirer prints worthwhile stuff outside the MSM's part line sometimes too.  But don't ask me to respect that rag or trust its word.

Troy

Right. It's just common these days to hear someone say they won't believe something because of the source. Heaven forbid they actually took the time to search *any* other source. It's way easier to just write it off as something only a left/right wacko would say.

My original comment about Rush was to say I don't trust his word, and then I asked if there were any other sources for the gang connection idea.

My instinct is to not believe a damn thing that spews from his mouth, either.

And judging by the way his sponsors are running away in droves, a lot of others feel the same way.

"Rush" is not the issue here. It's about hate crimes that are out of control.

Hate crimes? One of the three arrested was white. What that tells me the two that weren't white are simply low life scumbags that didn't give a rat's ass about color if they had an accomplice that was the same as the victim.

Rush is his own set of issues & soon he will be a relic of the past.

:Twocents:

I've got no use for "hate crimes" either.  IMHO the entire principle is punishing people for their beliefs rather than actions.  A murder is a murder.  The severity of the crime should not be variable depending on who committed it.

An eye for an eye.  One law for all..........that is a fair system.

You won't hear it from any sources like msnbc or cnn for the gang connection because it doesn't fit their agenda, it distracts from it.

Yeah, but MSNBC/etc are not the only games in town.  The foreign press tells as much truth about the USA as the domestic ones do, not to mention the smaller outfits here.

MSNBC and CNN are commie "news" networks.

..and Fox news is 'Fair and balanced.' It's a great news outlet for people who can't think for themselves.

Somebody did a study on networks recently and decided that MSNBC was the most biased, followed close behind by FOX, and CNN a few steps down the list was the least biased.  That conclusion seems to fit my own perceptions of them well enough.

Biased news sources have historically been the norm.  Attempts to be balanced during the 20th century were the odd time.  Now they are drifting back towards the standard situation where most sources are radically biased because it makes more money.
