Plastic parking brake grommet - where can you get one?

You know, the little plastic grommet that retains the release arm spring and keeps it from rattling? Does anyone sell a replacement? Mine was shot and all I could find to replace it was a rubber grommet, which looks good but doesn't work too well.

Can you replace the grommet even if you find one? I seem to remember the shaft being captive.

If it is easily replaceable try searching by shaft diameter and bracket hole size.

The grommet is replaceable.  Plastic handle is retained with a roll pin & comes off to remove rod & spring assy

A plastic wire ty works just as well

My local Dodge dealer says that part number you linked in the thread above is a no-go. I'll do some casual shopping for one but I got mine dialed in enough today to make me happy.

Something like that might work but it can't be too rigid because there are two 80-degree bends in the shaft before you get to the mounting location. The shaft is 1/4" but not sure what the hole diameter is. I should have measured and wrote it down before putting the rubber grommet in, but my guess is 3/8".

I just split a flat washer and twisted it enough to get over the shaft, then used pliers to get it back to being a flat washer again...I know it ain't "stock or correct"....but it works for me

That's the same advice I gave someone else about the same topic a few years ago. I was hoping things had improved since then and the real deal was available.

the real deal may well be available...but for me, I'm not gonna take my brake assembly apart for a $2 bushing for fear of breaking something that may cost me $100 to fix.....the little .15cent flat washer has worked on my black 66 since the late 70's...still working today to hold the spring back. If someone wants to crawl up under my dash and chastise me for not having the correct bushing in there, so be it.

I have seen the bushings available...trying to find where I saw it a while ago..will get back to ya when I find the vendor
