I read this on a site selling these heads:

"Notes:These heads require adjustable rocker arms and a minimum of a 2.0 in. header tube. A smaller tube has a smaller radius and will not clear the spark plugs"

I read, on this site, that the 1 7/8 TTI primary tube headers fit and actually out-performed the 2" TTI headers.  I am planning on a 505 cu-in stroked 440.  I also noticed on the TTI site that there was less clearance to a suspension part (right now, I can't remember which) with the smaller tubes.

I would appreciate some practical advice before I consider purchasing.  I was leaning towards the 1 7/8 until I read that Note.

Thank you

I'm running the Eddy RPM heads with stock rockers and the TTI 1 7/8 headers on my 440. I have no issues with spark plugs or wires on the Eddy heads. With the TTI 1 7/8 headers the idler arm grease nipple would rub on the headers,I removed the grease nipple and good to go.

I have the eddy heads and the 2" TTI headers without any issues so far, but I haven't installed the plugs yet. Probably going to be doing that today. So I will update and let you know.

Those notes are new. I'm not sure which headers they have had trouble with. I have these same heads on the charger 493. I had a set of # 5903 Hooker 1 7/8" headers, a set of # 5209 2" Super Comps Hookers and the current 2" TTI headers. The TTI offer the best clearance around the spark plugs, but the 1 7/8" headers posed no problems as far as I remember.
Regarding the performance difference of 1 7/8" VS 2" pipes, the smaller pipes are better with a 450 HP and lower engine. Above the 450 HP mark, the 2" pipes have the advantage. Anyone building a 500 inch big block should expect to make over 450 HP.

The TTI tech sheet claims that their pipes WILL NOT CLEAR the Fast Ratio pitman and idler arms. They are wrong about that. They fit and clear by over a 1/2" on my 70 Charger. The TTI headers have collectors that are aimed towards the humps in the Torsion bar crossmember of the car.  Other brands of headers  point straight back, requiring a zig/zag in the exhaust pipes. The MORE bends an exhaust system has, the MORE restriction and heat retention.  CHEAP headers have drawbacks.

I have the Eddy E-Street on my build which by all accounts are the same as the RPM's, I also have the Hooker Super Comps 1 7/8 and the only issue is spark plug clearance on #1 cyl tube. #1 and #3 boots touch the tubes even though i use the shorty header plugs also I cant get a socket on those plugs without loosing the header. I have heard that TTI is the header of choice with these heads.
