its goes right after the fuel pump.

ALL 440 HP came with this, you will/ should have a 1/4 return line back to your fuel tank.

Fuel line comes off the fuel pump. approx. 3 " vapour  separator /filter, then fuel line is routed up center of the engine block , beside the alternator, Around distrbutor and to the the carb.

The dual outlet side of the separato points to the ground.

If you buy a separator, make sure the vapor orifice has the restriction (many don't)
or you will bleed fuel pressure.

Some say there is an improvement in making the restriction smaller yet.

So the outlet feeds the carb? And the return line goes to tank , where on tank? Do I need to "make" a place on tank? Thanks

Yes and yes, as far as tank fittings, if you have the gauge sender with two hose fittings, the smaller, 1/4", is for the vapor return,
the 5/16" or 3/8" is fuel supply.

Depends on your car spec. or state which one was in there originally.
