S we know we need a tach adapter, but which one?

On MSDs site it has a white wire one or magnetic trigger. We have no clue which one we need. Any help would be appreciated!

we don't know what type of ignition set up you are running because you failed to provide that info, but...if you scroll down & read what that link says, it should answer your own question

Wow, I'm sorry for the lack of information. My apologies for that. In all honesty I have no clue about any of the ignition stuff, so I didn't post it due to lack of knowledge. I did however read that information before posting here.

I currently have an MSD AL2 box, Firecore distributor, and MSD Blaster SS coil. I'm not sure if you need more information than that. We are working on a 1970 Charger R/T it had an orange box when we got it.

I posted here in desperation as we keep running into small snags before we are able to light this monster off for the first time. So I guess the excitement just got to me. I will do some more research.

I do appreciate the comment A383Wing. At least we now know everyone needed more information. Hope you have a good night sir!

Oh we also have a tic toc tach if that is needed.

2Luke2

Just wanted to post this up for someone else. The first picture is of the tic toc tach and it's wiring configuration. Looking at both images I'm assuming I have a voltage based tach. Can anyone confirm this before I pull the trigger on the buy. :)

where is the ballast resister on a stock 69? at least the one that goes with the tach?

Well mine was located on the firewall, but I removed it since it's not required since my coil has less than 1.2Ohms of primary resistance.

thats the only ballast resistor that i'm aware of, the one on the top middle of the firewall, just wasn't sure if that was it or not.  Always liked to use it as a backup anti-theft device, unhook one wire from the ballast,  and the car would start, but would die soon afterward.

Haha love the trick thanks.

Luke,

MSD 8920 is the tach adapter you need with a factory Chrysler tach and magnetic pickup distributor  :2thumbs:

You install the adapter on the tach output port located on the 6al box....not on the neg terminal of the coil.

Thanks Ron! That's the one we were leaning towards,  but wanted to make sure.

Anyone have a clue as to what color the wire is that went to the coil? I'm looking at a colored diagram of the front to back hardness and I see every color in the harness except for the one we need.

It looks like it's a light brown in color and coming off the negative for the coil, but I'm thinking that might not be the one we need. It's basically asking us to hook up the "trigger wire" from the tach to one of the wires on the tach adapter, only problem is we have no earthly clue what wire we are looking for.

Luke
My Charger is a 1968

My + wire to the coil was BLUE
The - wire was BROWN

I had a Photo - not to good but I did label some wires before I removed them!

Awesome! Thank you John, this car has an M&H harness and at the firewall it looks like it's a very light tan color and then they connected that into a grey with black tracer wire so I'm guessing that is my negative. We are cleaning everything up and doing some final adjustments and then hope to be firing her off in the next hour or so. We want to make sure we cover all our bases more than once. :)
