is it possible to fit a 18x9.5 4.5bs up front with a hotchkis shock?

Depends on what size tire you plan on running, how low it sits, and if you want to modify the wheel openings. I've seen 18x9's with a 4.5" backspace with 275/40 tires fit but the wheel openings had to have the lips rolled in so the tire wouldn't snag when turning. That 1/2" extra might be pushing it too far? You also might have to remove the support brace inside the fender so the tire won't hit. I'd try and play it safe and find a 8" or 9" rim with the proper offset. I'm not saying it can't be done, but I think the offset may not be right?

The Hotchkis 69 roadrunner runs 18x10s with a 295 tire but its a custom backspace. And the fenders were rolled and the support braces removed. So there will definitely be some modifications to make them fit.

What rims are you looking at? Can they do a custom offset?

You're going to have to come out of the tool shed eventually, just tell us.  Besides, anyone willing to participate in a thread about wheels widths in the 8's and 9's is an obvious supporter of modern wheel styles...

I don't think I'd ever want to get anything wider than a 255 on the front, and that's pushing it so with a 9.5" wide wheel it should fit...but it may not look right.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.
