i had my car on the lift and was replacing the seal for the shifter linkage and kickdown shaft. and when i removed my valve body i noticed this yellow paint on it. just wondering if anyone knows what it was put there for. is it factory.
i tried to search, but came up with nothing about this.
i need to remind myself to pull some numbers off of my tranny anyway to see what year it is.

Factory qc paint dob.  Nubers should be on the pan rail.

Sometimes the paint daubs are to identify the type of VB for the assembler. IOW, in any given year the 727 might use a dozen different VB's and each has to be quickly identified; since they all look alike, they have to be able to ID them quickly. In later years they punched a number in the steel plate to ID them.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Can someone help with my tranny numbers. I'm on my iPad so I can't post a pic but here it goes
PK 4028826 5971 8486
Not sure about the two letters. Found these on driver side pan rail.
