Proportional Valve (Front Disc Brakes)

I have a 1969 Charger with front power disc brakes from the factory. I noticed that my charger is leaking brake fluid and it looks like it is coming from the bottom of the proportional valve on the front drives side of the car. Is this typical for these valves to wear out and leak? Also, is it hard to change them and is there anything I should now before I try to change it?

Loose brake line? O-ring on the bottom fitting maybe....

I looks like it is dripping from the bottom of the valve but all the lines are tight.

The threaded plug at the bottom has a gasket or O ring seal.

They don't get old and leak. They go bad and don't work.  I crashed my Charger into another Charger because of this.  :brickwall:

Not if you make sure you take PLENTY of pics BEFORE you remove all the lines as to where they go on the valve.

Don't do this, and your in for a headache. Bleed brakes afterwards. I have seen where sometimes the slider valve tends to not allow rear fluid to rear brakes. this can be tricky to get "unstuck", but nothing to major.

I would make double and triple sure the fluid leak is at the bottom and not anywhere higher.

The prop valve on a '69 would be near impossible to install wrong.

View of the plug that's probably the leak source.

I've seen 'em on cars I've bought upside down...

(As a side note: Also many folks tend to call the "combo" valve a "prop" valve. I was referring to that with all the lines, as many tend to swap out front disc brakes from later A-bodies and swipe this valve as I believe it's all in one on that one.)
