That's a shame :bawling:  I'd hate to have been a passenger. :scared:  At least it was a Ford instead of a Dodge

charger_fan_4ever

I hope nobody got hurt.

I will say i would have felt bad for the car if it would have been a 69-70 M1. Those 71-73 ouff almost as ugly as those late 70 gia mustangs.

ACUDANUT

Damn nice car. My favorite Mustang too. I doubt anyone lived in that horrible accident.  :icon_smile_dissapprove:

Tomorrow is promised to no one.......drive your Charger today.

Too much power in the wrong hands.   :eek2:

To much power to little brains. Seems to be a common denominator  :rotz:

I saw a late seventies chev just like that but hit tree from the other side. (The car had to be jacked apart to get if off the tree)
The driver was balled up under the glove box on the floor. Drunk and other wise ok.  :shruggy:

Lord Warlock

not every wreck like that is fatal,  I once bought a green/green/green 69 RT that had whacked a telephone pole hard enough on the right side behind the front wheel to put a U shaped dent into the engine bay, the pole was snapped in half, the car was twisted pretty badly but the owner walked away from it.  I think being drunk may have helped.  The car didn't have much worth saving, but i did get the motor and transmission out of it, and into my 69 r/t se.  Had to break off the right side exhaust manifold with a sledge hammer, couldn't get a wrench in there to unbolt it.

Now if there was a passenger, i would think there'd be blood stains or body parts laying about, a passenger would not have lived through that, but the driver may have.
69 RT/SE Y3 cream yellow w/tan vinyl top and black r/t stripe. non matching 440/375, 3:23, Column shift auto w/buddy seat, tan interior, am/fm w/fr to back fade, Now wears 17" magnum 500 rims and Nitto tires. Fresh repaint, new interior, new wheels and tires.

It is true that being drunk may save ones life because it helps prevent shock from doing what it needs to do. However being drunk does nothing for others involved. :eek2:

Prolly some idiot who bought another from the US and now it's gone. As for the theory of too much power, it appears to be a 302/351 Windsor with automatic. Not really a powerful combo in the picture. My guess is another 'canyon carver', or "Drift king", let it get away from him/her.

What a shame, I love that body style Mustang.
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

FJ5WING

Not sure if I call mine worse or not but I walked away with a broken schnazz and a few scrapes and cuts.  My co-workers at the time renamed me Morris as in, I used up most of my nine lives.

Im going to say it wasn't a fatal with the car sitting in someones yard and not an impound/police lot?????
wingless now, but still around.

Holy sh*t, that is a mess.  :mrt:
Hopefully there were no fatalities.

I thought was to read a new about the crash, not an HISTORY OF THE MUSTANG MACH1 article
Venezuelan RT 74 400 4bbl, 727, 8.75 3.23 open. Now stroked with 440 crank and 3.55 SG. Here is the History and how is actually: http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,7603.0/all.html

Eh, no such thing as too much power.  A segway could probably kill if its operator is incompetent enough...

I agree that the power is not what caused this.
There are many cars and bikes that a newbe can buy that can reach 180+ and no one will ask if they know how to handle it.
Mechanical failure is seldom an issue.

When you're used to a mule and a 2 wheel cart, that 302 is pretty fast.

God must love stupid people; He made so many.

LOOKS LIKE A 15-16 SECOND CAR, HOWEVER ALMOST ANYTHING CAN GET UP TO 100MPH AND HAVE THESE RESULTS

Troy

If you guys think that thing is stock maybe you'd like to race mine... ;)

The comments state that this happened a few years ago and the driver survived.

Troy
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

The inventor or designer of the Segway did die by losing control of the Segway and going over a cliff.

It.s not a joke. Google it. You couldn.t make something up that crazy.

actually, the inventor of the segway is Dean Kamen, invented it in 2001, still alive. the man known as Jimi Heselden owned the company which he bought in december 2009. but yeah, rode it off a cliff

I think I read that the 71 351 'Stangs were the quickest of them all.

that dosent sound right, with the smaller 67-68 with available BB power and the also smaller 69-70's Im not inclined to believe that?  :shruggy:
wingless now, but still around.

maxwellwedge

I think I read that in Musclecar Review. The BB's were - let's be honest........not that quick

Road Dog

If your wheels ain't spinn'n you ain't got no traction.

Ghoste

Agreed, I had one in an early 70's Ranchero (swapped in, not factory) and it was a mutha.

My 69 428CJ with a little cam and exhaust was a pretty cool little Mustang. :shruggy:

myk

Eh, I might be off a bit, but I think the new 5.0's are the "quickest" Mustangs of all time; they turn and brake really well, too...

The potential was there - You woke yours up - which is good. They needed something. Stock for stock - they were underwhelming compared to the other cars of the day. But they were a beautiful car....always one of my faves....had a few over the years. :2thumbs:

Talking the original muscle-car era....the new stuff is superior in all aspects....

You would be correct - 71 Boss 351 though. The other 351s were fast but the Boss had some "improvements" in the engine. Many Mach 1s with the 351 came with a 2bbl carb. These had relatively small port heads, a 300ish CFM carb, and, I believe, a single exhaust. The next step up (and much rarer) was the 4bbl 351. On the Cleveland this meant special heads with HUGE ports (same ones originally spec'd on the Boss 302), higher compression (around 11:1), an upgraded cam, and dual exhaust. The Boss 351 took the same engine a step further with an even bigger carb, hotter cam, exhaust, etc. Even in that giant pig of a body it was quick! Low 13s in stock trim if I remember right.

I love the 428 powered cars but, yes, the 390 (especially) and other big block Mustangs weren't much to write home about right off the showroom floor. Not to mention the pure joy of trying to change spark plugs! Tasca started putting 428s in at their dealership when Ford refused to acknowledge just how crappy the 390 was as a race engine - but even that didn't take them as far as they would have liked. The Boss 429 was just too expensive to be "common" enough for most racers.

Completely agree, the mid 70's were dark times for Ford Motor Co, or just cars in general...
