Just ran across this from Van's.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/171097355560?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

I know bobfist was making some, but these appear to be made out of stainless or flash chrome plated.
Although not 100% correct in appearance, it looks very nice. Price isn't bad either including shipping, I've seen used ones for double!

That's pretty nice!

I wish I knew how to fix the vent issue with these cars.  I get tired of trickling the last gallon of fuel in the tank so it doesn't create a fountain.  I wonder if a bigger vent tube on the filler neck would do it.

Edit:  The filler tube vent line runs into the frame rail correct?  What would happen if you put a t-connector on the sending unit return line and hook up both the fuel return line and the filler tube vent line on the t?

There won't be any fumes going into the garage which is great, but will it create other problems?
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Not my auction, I'm not selling these.
Looks like this is a new repro from Van's Auto. I had no idea when they started repro'ing these. Maybe they've been out for a while, sorry then if this is old news to some.
For the price including shipping these appear unbeatable.
Just passing the info along.  :2thumbs:

No Problem on that Bill ;) I have been looking for over a year. Mine is painted and pitted really bad.  Couldn't find an oem one for under 150.00. Did not want to pay that with seeing it in person...I have contacted a past supplier of this and they did not have any(Fist). I even went to Vans web site just last weekend and did not find this. :icon_smile_big: I had moved on the other things and BAM! There was this link!! :2thumbs: It seems that how it happens.

I hope so, too. This obviously must be a new repro.
Look, they're also making stainless gas tanks. Wouldn't mind one of these in my '69.  :drool5:

I think the s/s gas tank is great but OMG! shipping to Australia is $984.50.   :eek2:  I'll pass.

Is there really a big demand for the filler tubes?   :shruggy:  I would think that the tube isn't something that sees wear & tear. My car was just a shell & I had needed one but I got one on ebay for $25 & there was one on my parts car. If the new one was available I'd have ordered one, but I'll just clean mine up. The tank is nice, not much more compared to a standard one. That leads me to believe it's Chinese for that price, & I've seen Chinese stainless steel rust like regular steel.   :Twocents:

You should contact the seller to confirm if that amount is correct as often the ebay calculator is way off. I have come across that myself. Also, I have seen some listings that ask out of U.S. buyers to contact them instead of using the calculator. :Twocents:

Maybe somebody has these out at the Nats...     :scratchchin:

I still have Sinnamon's original slightly crusty filler.    I was thinking of getting it blasted and  powdercoated.   This might be cheaper alternative.

At one time I wanted a stainless tank but I already got a new tank for Sinnamon.  :Twocents:

I've found that trying to get most things from e-bay outside of the states rapes you on shipping...  I tried to get an 80$ dash cover and they wanted 150$ to ship it UPS...  Not a chance...  I'd rather spend a month reconditioning my completely ruined one then pay triple for a piece of plastic.  I'm now resorting solely on this forum and contacting the manufactureres outside of e-bay.  <= Beats dealing with those re-selling scumbags...  my  :Twocents:

I think there will be a great reception for these. It sucks when you do everything you can to make the trunk area look awesome and then you have a So-so filler tube running right through it all.

They are usually rusted where they pass thru the trunk floor, & commonly pitted which makes for a bad seal.

I did not want to go to the effort to find a new-original zinc plated one and ended up just painting (satin-aluminum color with flat clear sealer) mine. It ended up nice but, not original looking.  It is the original fuel filler neck to the car so, if I wanted to pull it and have it re-zinc plated, I could but, I don't think it is worth the effort right now. it sealed perfectly to the gas tank and has no pitting, just looked a little "dim" and had a rusty patina on some areas.

The new repros look very nice but, definitey not original.

I am not slighting the dealer. Most of these dealers are not the manufacturer. My point was that a lot....and I do mean a lot of reproduction stuff gets screwed up when the prototypes go to the orient and manufactured incorrectly. If they even tried the stuff on a few cars before selling it - they would quickly figure out the stuff is not right. I can name dozens of parts that are incorrect/non-fitting/non-working.

On another note - I have had great success tumbling original tubes. If they aren't all pitted, they come up looking great. You need two things for this to be successful. A decent original tube, and access to a tumbler that is big enough for the piece to fit in. This could be tough - as the Charger tube is very long.

Just got mine today :icon_smile_big: Looks well made, looks awesome has the vent line too. Maybe a little to shiney compared to the original but I think it is good to install it after driving season. ;)

:woohoo:

Brian, is it chrome plated? Bright zinc?
Hard to tell from the pic.
I dunno, perhaps some scotch brite or flattening clear would tone it down a bit?

Its Chromed, But it actually doesnt look bad. It doesnt look correct, but on a rally nice car its great. Plus, I think if you wanted one for a points car you could strip the chrome off and have it tinned or leaded or whatever the process really consists of.

I just got my new filler tube today.

Did you have any problems with the vent tube where it goes through the floor?

At first look, it appears to be bent wrong?

Did you have to "tweak" it?

Here's mine:

I actually just used a new one that came in a line kit I had. It is bent wrong though.

I thought it looked wrong. ::)

I do have a tubing bender. :scratchchin:

I bet when I bend it that chrome will peel off like a bad toupe'  :brickwall:

Lord Warlock

I hadn't really planned on buying a replacement for mine, although the original was rusty/scaled on the flat bar at the bottom that fit inside the tank,  but mine has the original locking gas cap stuck in the top, it'd cost almost as much as buying the new one than taking the original to a locksmith to remove the gas cap.  Replacing the floor, tank, fuel lines etc, so probably makes sense to get a new tube as well.  Can always worry about the old gas cap later.

Ordered a new one today, looked at the old one and decided it just wasn't worth cleaning it.  Will the chrome cause an issue fitting into the grommet to the tank?

where do you get a tubing bender at? Need to bend the fuel line replacement i got previously.  Waiting for the new trunk floor panels which should arrive today via fedex.

Anybody filled there tank after installing one of these? Wondering how they worked out. Just discovered my original tube is leaking under the undercoating a couple inches out of the tank. Of course I had to fill the tank to find this out.
