Hi guys -

Question, I know that on the 1968 Chargers the front marker lights are made to go off when the headlights are turned on, on 69' the marker lights stay on with the headlights. Is there a way to make the lights stay on the on the 68's? Is the mechanism to do so located on the switch or can it be wired some other way?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks gents - Mike

Good question, I like the look of parking and headlights on together. Hope someone knows easy way.    Did I mention your car is bad ass... oh yeah I have several times!

question..does the 69 actually light..I thought they were just reflectors ( a Chrysler sneaky) and the DOT mandated for all 1970 models that they illuminate.

I had installed a 1968 charger wiring harness in a friends 1969 daytona along time back. And had to convert the wiring to accomodate. So that the parking lights would stay on .I knew of this problem from owning 68 mopars before. If you look on the wiring harness of the 2 you will see the differences. Then you can use a blue quick connector the 2 needed wires together.I cant recall of the 2 years of 68-69 headlight switches having different amounts of connection terminals.

If you are asking about the '69 side markers just being reflectors the answer is Yes. In 1970 they went back to lighted side markers.

Okay... So you have to create a new wire by the switch and run it to the parking lamps or behind the grill? I would think linking the two together would make your headlights come on when you turn on the parking lamps. Or, would it be easier to add a seperate switch and wires to supply power to the parking lamps when the headlights are on?

68 & 69 Charger switches are the same, and the same as the Superbird unit.

Sometimes I wish my lights stayed on, but to many other things to work on, and cars.

Get a pic of your wiring diagram. Find out which connection on your headlight switch runs the headlights and which wire is for the parking lights. Jump the parking light wire to the headlight connection.

In my mind, that should do it.
