Installing fuel tank filler tube

1968 Charger. I'm trying to reinstall this filler tube following a gas tank replacement.  Got a new seal for the tank.  Man is this thing tight!!  I used silicone spray. Some dishwasher soap. 

Anyone have any advice on installing this thing?  I'm a pretty strong guy and I'm pushing with all my might and twisting at the same time.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

mine was hard also, but it sealed it, but its not as high as it was before I can only tell becuase the bolts to screw the Js on are not so high up.

if I could do it over I would install the fillter neck then try to align up the tank and everything else.

you have to act fast, but squirt some solvent based wax and grease remover on th tube and the seal. It will amaze you how well it works.

I remember it was tough getting it in there but with spraying silicone spray and twisting it back and forth, I got it in.  Not an easy task but then again, you want a tight seal so it doesnt leak!

Also, a extra pair of hands help too.  One on the floor with the tank and the other in the trunk area.

OK, finally got the tube in place.  Thought I would share what worked in hopes it will help others in this task. 
I always have to work alone on my cars so an extra pair of hands are never available.  First, I noticed there were some small burrs on the end of the tube that I thought might be hanging up on the seal, so I used a file to smooth the end of the tube some.  I placed the tube into the opening and attached a small ratchet strap around the tube where the vent line bracket is welded to get a little grip.  I ran the strap through the trunk opening across the tank to the frame rail on the opposite side and tightened the strap until there was quite a bit of tension, this gave me the extra force needed and after a few shots of silicone lubricant it slipped in fairly easily.
Working in the trunk with space limited and having fresh paint makes this job even more challenging.  I hope this solution will help others having similar issues.
