What type screws are used in the console light bezels?

Unfortunately my console light bezels did not come with mounting screws. It looks to me like it would be a #8 oval head but it might be an oddball like a #8 screw with a #6 head. The holes in the bezels are pretty small compared to the holes in the console chell.

I may be taking my car apart in the parking lot here!

I just got a call to see another patient at 1 so I may not be able to check these things until I get home.

Don't go to all that trouble. I texted a guy and he thinks it's a reduced head #8 but he didn't sound all that sure.

I didn't check last night, I backed into the garage, didn't notice the buddy seat had slipped off the box and turned so I ended up wedging the seat between car and wall.  The seat (and the wall) are fine but I have a nice dent in the rear quarter just below the body line.   ::)

Bull, IIRC your friend is correct.
Larger thread size, with a smaller sized head.  :yesnod:

That's what I ended up using after a stop at the hardware store to get some. I should have gotten 1" because the 3/4" barely reached on the driver's side where the carpet is. Aside from that they look pretty good but it almost seems like the screw heads are still too large at #6. But I'm leaving until I hear something more sure.

As far as I know my screws are original

Thanks, Sydmoe. :2thumbs: Did you happen to measure the shank diameter?

Depending on your shank diameter yours is nearly identical to what I bought yesterday. My overall length is .773" and the head diamter is .253". The shank diameter on mine is .16" roughly.

Here is the diameter

Also, the yellow circle is the retainer that it screws into on the inside of the console

My retainer is different too, it's a clip-on style rather than a spring flat like yours appears to be. But then these cars were not uniform at all. I've talked to guys who have torn down original owner cars and found three different style retainers within four feet of the same run of trim.

Anyway, thanks a bunch. :2thumbs:
