to sell or not to sell?

I have an 84 Mercedes 300SD (Diesel) that my dad gave me when i moved out (was my grandmothers before that, always in the family). i also have an 83 toyota he gave me when i was in high school and i've had both these cars as transportation for the last 3 years. i've switched between the 2 car depending on fule cost, or what i was doing. its nice to have the mercedes for going on dates, going out to dinner, great in the summer becasue its has AC and its is an all around great car. the toyota is a good car too, excapt i've had a few times in the last 3 years that i've had to work on it and drive the mercedes. well, i've currently got the wild idea of selling the Mercedes. i've seen them for sale around here for $2500-3000. so i'm wondering if i should sell it. i would be losing my more reliable car, but with Diesel at $3.00 a gallon its been 3 months since i've driven the car. if i sell it i won't have the "nice" car anymore, but i will have money. i also have the charger, she runs, so if the toyota died i'd have a second car, but she is non-oped and not insured, and the fuel cost for the Charger makes the Mercedes seem like a Kia, even with $3.00/gallon Diesel.
its a tough chioce for me, i could use the money, i'm in college i can always use money. and the charger would see some of that money, but i love the Mercedes. it has been expencinve to do maintance on it, but its never had a major problem. so knowing my situation, should i sell it?

I have been trying to find something I like about Mercedes Benz for 45 years with no luck, Sorry, but they are uncool IMHO. Add a diesel and I start to gag.
