So mine's more of an original GL than the ones wearing the orange clown suits. :nana:

Yep, your car is the Bruce Wayne!

Ghoste

That "hole" seems large for a marker light spot, no?

JB400

Can't see nothing on quarter as to what year.  That episode as the Happy Birthday General Lee episode on Season 7.  The car was stolen by a couple jewel thieves, and then knocked off the road by the county mounty into a deep ditch.

Ghoste

Did Boss Hogg try to frame them Duke boys so he could take their farm by any chance?

Ghoste

Not the authority by any stretch but I suppose by season 7 they would have had quite a combination of 2nd gens they were using.  I do think the round looking part on the fender in the still shown above is just a dent though.  (but not the authority there either)

From the DVD collection, fast forward to the 17:40 mark of season 7 episode 1. As stroker400wedge mentioned it was called "Happy Birthday General Lee"

The junkyard owner says "Beat up black 68 coupe, look like it's been through a meat grinder"

Ghoste

You'd think they would have caught that one.

I wouldn't be looking for correctness in the DOH TV show. Correctness had nothing to do with that show. Ratings were to primary focus.

And that's black car was the producers version of how GL came to be.

I always thought it was dark green, but that could have been my old TV coloring!!  :smilielol:
Wonder how they went from the steel wheels to Vectors on the Farm?  Would be funny to see someone use that episode and insert either Classic industries or Year One signs all over the barn!

Bo is spot on at the  20-25 sec mark. Even back in 1978

I don't have the DVD but I do recall Cooter having a bunch of orange paint AND Daisy made a comment about painting the rebel flag on top????

Somebody tell me if I am wrong. I wonder if she caught any shit over wanting to paint the flag? LOL

P.S. I will stick to forum rules as I am not trying to stir up any racism or politics here. Thanks! TC

i recently watched it, if i recall cooter simply just had orange paint laying around, which is strange because where did they get the red white blue and black for the graphics  :shruggy: they never mentioned the reason for the 01 or the flag, the vectors or the bull bar  :scratchchin:

Heck in season 7 most Lee's had their sidemarkers "shaved", I guess it's better than tape over a 68 sidemarker spray painted orange!!! (Which was done)
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

The rebel flag was never originally controversial when the show aired in the early 1980s.

People first raised an eyebrow about it when the TNN network started airing DOH re-runs in the late 1990s.  It started drawing more serious talk in the 2000s.

There was about 10 years before the TNN reruns where the show was totally off the map.  No other TV channels re-running the show, no reunion specials, no episodes available for sale, no plastic GL models in the toy store, no internet, no big fan base, no nothing.

I remember seeing something about a car that was parked on the street below WB office building when 'Guy'? [Producer?] Waldren looked down and said "What about a Charger?"

It had those wheels on it already and was Copper colored. At the time they had ONE car done for the show with hand painted graphics, it was a hit, and they were scrambling to find more cars, wheels, bodymen and paint.
