AMD Glass

Is the AMD glass worth the extra money?

I got a quote from the local glass guy for tinted windshield for $225 and rear glass $275. The AMD stuff is a little more but the shipping is what is going to kill me.

Brock Lee

It depends on what you are after. The AMD glass looks more like the original part than the other brands. The thicker glass also is believed to seal better. But with butyl and not caring if the glass looks like the stock glass, a Pilkington or other brand does the job.

I wanted the AMD. I just waited for a Mopar Swap Meet as there are always a few AMD dealers on hand. Just buy one in person and save the shipping fees.

DC_1

That brings me to my second question: Anyone know of any AMD dealers that bring glass to the Mopar Nationals in Columbus? Since I plan on going maybe I can pick some up. I emailed Dixie Restorations last week since he is a member here and I know usually has a vendor tent but they haven't got back to me.

I got a front & rear windshields from AMD & they worked out fine. However, the freight is a killer & is what makes it not worth the money. I picked mine up the their warehouse in GA last spring on my way to FLA.  :2thumbs:

When's your next trip to Florida?....and can you schedule a visit with me in Toronto on your way back? I'd love to catch up on oldtimes and the shenanigans of your cousin Richard Cranium!....... and maybe on your way you can pick me up some glass! :D

Stephen's performance is an amd dealer and is at all the big events. They would bring it to the Nationals I'm sure.

I bought mine from Stephens. They had a display one out at the show. I had to go to one of their trucks and pick up my glass. They had like 4 in that truck ready to go.

That seems to be the case with the rear glass and the way it is made. Not sure why there is a difference at all. it must be in the manufacturing.

I've seen that to be the case alot,so I used a nice original back glass ,amd side glass and a pilkington windshield on the 68. I used an original vega glass on the daytona clone with amd for the side glass and windshield.

The first set of glass I bought was from PS Auto Glass. The only glass that was usable was the windshield. The rear glass
was to thick and very wavy, the side glass was way to thick and also very wavy, you could not roll up the door glass.

So I bought a set from AMD, all glass looked good and fit well, door glass was not wavy, and not to thick, this was five years ago.

Three years ago I bought another full set of glass from AMD. All glass worked well but the door and quarter glass. The door
glass was way to thick, and wavy like the prior vendor. They replaced the side glass, and told me they had never had
a problem with there glass ever before, and I was the first to have any issue, I find that hard to believe nobody else
has called on these problems  :shruggy:

So does AMD have good glass at all these days?

Or is a case of picking through a pile to settle for pieces slightly less bad than the rest?

I would do it over I reckin. Everything went in fine. Its just not perfect. I've never had a car with new glass before, I always notice it driving. Its just along the road of replacing everything on the car basically.

Yep, POS glass for sure. But this was not on ebay, directly from PS Auto Glass 11 years ago, before AMD glass was out.

Stephens should be there. You can't miss them as I think they have half a row in the swap meet! ;)

And now I see this!
