I can understand why some long term owners like this one may have an inflated opinion of the values of these cars,  Over the last 20 years while this one was rusting away the values have peaked and valley'd about 6 or 7 times.  At some point the car very well could have been worth 40k, but not anymore.  This one looks way beyond the average car enthusiast's capabilities.  I couldn't imagine folks looking at that and seeing a great deal.  But there is always someone out there with more money than sense.  It just reinforces my own feelings about the worth of my car, should someone show up offering stupid money for a rare car.  Something's to be said for keeping a car mostly rust free and stored inside, even in florida with high humidity.  The only part of mine that got worse over time was the trunk floor which I had put fiberglass over the center trunk area where a few small holes were, when I pulled it off 10 years later, not much was left under the fiberglass, enough to stand on without falling thru but a lot worse than before.

In any case, if this pulls 10k i'd be shocked.

I thought 500s had flush rear windows, or was that only in 69?

Yes it is rustier than I thought and while I wouldn't give 10k for it I think 5 or 6k would be a crazy deal for how complete it is but I don't see it going that cheap anymore. Itll probably sell for 8k.

BULL - This guy has an EMOTIONAL attachment to this car, like Ed Gien (pardon spelling) had to his mother....   :nono:  :

Ed Gein? So he's just plain nuts then. I understand how an emotional attachment to a car can make a guy act weird but at some point reality has to set in when it comes to an actual exchange of money. I went through this with a woman on a local '69 that I helped a guy from Nevada buy. It was in similar shape to this '70 you're looking at and at first she wanted $12k because it had a "wedge" 318 instead of just a run-of-the-mill 318 and she was emotionally attached otherwise. :shruggy: After 3-4 visits I managed to talk her down out of the clouds and I think we settled on $6k which was a bit on the high side of fair.

This guy is not going to sell this car...  the emotional attachment is way too strong. at this point I'm thinking this is a parts car. I'll put a bet on I know whats gonna happen next..... time will tell if I'm right.

Only 69, in 1970 the 500 was a trim package more or less.

Ghoste

And the 69 Charger 500 is in many ways the odd dog in the overall Dodge lineup as "500" had been and was after it, an upscale trim designator on a few car lines.  Only the one time was it an homologation special with extensive modifications to the body.

Emotional attachments have led to the demise of many a car.

Iceyone

I'd have a hard time paying $4500.00 for that car, let alone $45K. If that rust bucket can get $10K then I ought to sell my 68. It's not near as rusty and still has the fender tag.
