Upper door pad hits rear pad

Does anyone have or had the problem of the upper door pad hitting the upper pad for the back seat? I mean when the door closes, the rear of the door pad hits the front of the rear seat pad. My car does this and looks like it has done it for a long time. The rear pad has had all the vinyl worn off so that you can see the metal frame.
I have rebuilt the hinges and have adjusted the door as far forward as possible and the door fits the body pretty well. the gap is even all the way around. Am I missing something? I didn't see any way to move the pads to keep them from hitting.

I looked at the pieces for my car and the front pad looks fixed so it's either made wrond or the mounting holes are wrong.  If you try to redrill the holes then the door lock button may not fit.

The rear pad looks slightly different.   The pad itself is fixed but the piece of galvanized metal that it clips onto does have some small amount of adjustment.  Not much, maybe 1/4 inch. That may be enough to solve your problem.  I think the rear pad comes off by pushing it straight up.

These are the original factory pads. I will try to get pictures in the next few days.

How much of the pad is hitting? Couldn't be too much as it sounds the door is still closing. Try moving the clips on the back of the door pad to one side of the hole that will push the pad towards the front of the car. :Twocents:

It is not hitting by alot. Maybe 1/16" of an inch? I will try moving the clips to see if that buys me some clearance.

This morning when I got in the car I thought about this so I checked mine and I have an average of 1/4" gap between the front and rear pads.  Same on both sides.  These are my stock pads and I highly doubt they have ever been removed.  The gap is not uniform but it's not off by  lot either.  The typical 60's mopar tolerance...
