The jump car from the movie just sold for $22,000. This was the one remaining at the Petersen.

This was the catapult car from the highway jump in Atlanta.

Not sure. We sold another one a few years ago that was supposed to be the one you see in the bloopers when they were trying to set the jump up. It didn't fare so well. I can't imagine there were too many of them for that one jump could there?

I was under the impression there was two.  One was a 70. It was mentioned in the other features on the film.  Not for sure what the other car was exactly, but if this is the other one, than it can be assumed that it is a 68

Ghoste

Pretty sure the other one was a 69. At least the other alleged one that we sold was a 69

The description in the Auction was incorrect  , this is fact was the #2 Hero car from the 2005 movie , and was used again in the str8 to dvd The Beginning movie in 2007 , in that it runs into a tree .
Well that's what the Fx dept wanted you to believe , all the damage was done by them , and you only see it from the rear when it hits the tree .

They would have used the information the museum supplied.   So exactly how many were destroyed then for that jump scene?

The Petersen museum car wasn't a freeway jump car.  That one was purposely banged up in front during the filming of the 2007 "Dukes/Beginning" TV movie.  Aside from the bent front clip it's a fairly decent intact car, at least as Warner Bros GLs go.

---------------------

There were two cars wiped for the freeway jump scene.

The 1st car did 3 jumps, the freeway jump being the second one.  After all those jumps and rolling over during its final landing, it currently looks like it's been through a demo-derby.  If that car ever shows up at auction in shiny nice restored condition then I would assume it's a VIN-swapped rebody until proven otherwise.

The 2nd car was the shot used in the final movie.  It was this car pictured on a DC.com thread recently.  People were commenting how light the jump damage seemed and the owner was leaning towards restoring it.  It's a raggedy car that is structurally bent a little, but people have fixed plenty worse.

Based on that, the first one is being used as an advertising gimmick for a scrapyard somewhere in Ontario.  Its a shame about the misinformation about the other one but like I said, the information was based on what the consignor provided.
