Earned one more credit toward my Charger diploma last night

Last night I was working on the driver's seat trying to get the tracks working together and wanted to test it but the only place I could think of to test it was in the car. It was getting close to dark so I hurried and put the seat in, bolted it down, fooled around testing it for a few minutes and decided to fire the car up and cruise around the neighborhood. There's about 70 houses in my neighborhood with two main roads connecting them so I puttered around the the other side doing about 10 mph max and turned around to come back. This time I bumped it up to about 15 mph and tried second gear (I don't believe the car's been in 2nd gear for more than a decade), got to the corner to go back to my house, downshifted to first, finished the corner and then saw the tuner guy gawking out his garage door nodding in approval. So once I straightened out I gave the throttle a jab and lit the back tires for less than 2 seconds.

When I got to my driveway to pull in I could see the "Frizz" giving me stink eye from 6 houses away. The Frizz, as I call her, is a frizzy-haired loudmouth who walks around everywhere barefoot with her dog off its leash. During the 11 years we've lived in this neighborhood that dog has not been on a leash one time, and every time she's outside the dog is outside running loose. So I pull the Charger in the garage and she starts marching down to read me the riot act. She starts in on me right away about "peeling out" and I say, "Aren't the one who always has the dog running loose without a leash?" 3-2-1 liftoff! She starts threatening to call the cops and I tell her to go right ahead and ask her if she wants to borrow my phone to do it. I don't have the transcript but basically I wasn't too sympathetic to her complaint. Had it been just about anyone else I would have apologized and that would have been the end of it but I couldn't stand getting called out by someone who's broken the rules every damn day for the past 11 years.

Anyway, I figure getting yelled at for barking the tires in my Charger should earn me some credit around here. I bet it won't be the last time. In fact, every time I'm in the Charger and I see her outside with her dog running loose I think I'm going to stop and rev the engine a little just to raise her BP.

Dang, that '70 looks awesome! Oops, just hijacked my own thread.

I learned years ago to always behave on your own street. Otherwise you will be known for "always"  speeding, blasting music and spinning tires. Cops will be called all the time. Loud cars already sound fast. Ask me how I know. Took years of behaving myself before the stink went away.

Curtis, you had your diploma a long time ago.  All of this is just an advanced degree.

She'll get over it.  If not, she has a problem.  I've had to deal with crazy ladies like that all the time.  Cops called in on these more than once.  The only problem is her starting one.

Being that you had it out without being finished definitely earns you some brownie points. :2thumbs:

Oops! Sorry. Should have noticed the rear plug. Gotta get over to the aero section more often I guess. I knew you had it and I did notice the Recall wheels if that's any consolation.

Yeah, I hear ya. Don't deficate where you dine. I don't plan on doing it again and really didn't plan on doing it last night, but it's just so easy to do.

Homerr

Becoming a pain in her ass about her dog sounds totally reasonable to me, like calling out 'What was the number for animal control?' whenever she is around.  Then you both have a knife to each others throat and it all balances out.

Dino

I have one of those people in my sub.  Always lets the dog out when she leaves for work.  Until I called the humane society on her.  I told those folks that I am concerned the dog is going to get hit by a car, which is true.  That's all they needed to hear and they went right over to talk to the lady.  She now has to have the dog on a leash or she will lose it.  Haven't seen her in a while so I guess she got the message.   :2thumbs:

I drive my car like a granny when I am in the sub.  These cars are loud and I do drive it to work at 7 every morning so by not acting like a teenager, they are very nice to me and I have no complaints about the car at all.  When I just bought it, I went over to my direct neighbors and told them that any disturbance I may create, to come talk to me.  That was all they needed to hear.

Some common respect among neighbors goes a long way.

So, how did it feel to take her out for a minute?  Getting anxious to get her on the road yet?   :icon_smile_big:

Yes. I'm ready to go but I have some things to try to get done before it's official. One more round of undercoating is due now that the front fenders are in place. Then off to get an alignment. I still have to get the hood on and adjusted and then adjust the trunk lid, etc. But yeah I just want to, and will, be driving it on the street before August is gone.

Be sure to post a video, not necessarily of the car but of that '4 year old who just got a coolest toy on the block' grin you'll have on your face.   :icon_smile_big:

my stupid neighbors have a bunch of dogs, that freaking bark their heads off everytime I open my door on the house to come out, plus they let them loose, or used to let them loose all the time.  To voice my displeasure with the barking, I did a cam break-in at 9PM with open headers.  2x4s thrown in the general area of the dogs(10 feet away barking at me in my own damn driveway fixed the rest)

Never intended to hit a dog with a 2x4, but the neighbors didnt know that part)
