This thread was sparked by a member's post in another thread about cudaken's length of time he has had his car. Was just wondering how long members here have owned the car or cars they now own?

I'll start:

Black 66 Charger - owned since March 1974
Cream 66 Charger - Oct. 1995
73 Pontiac Grandville - July 1994
88 Dodge Shadow - June 2001
94 Dakota Sport - Sept. 2005
03 PT Cruiser - Dec 2002
70 Charger 500 (now the Daytona) - March 1996

Normally only a couple of years or so.  The fastback has managed to duck the want ads for 15 years which is interesting considering I never really wanted it in the first place nor am I all that keen to keep it.  The next one I hope to have around for a very long time.

So we have been together for 40 years.

1969 Plymouth Satellite Convertible - 1984
(Saw it at a gas station several days in a row, finally asked the guy working there if he wanted to sell it. "Yeah, $400 & it's yours.")

1971 Plymouth Scamp - 1988
(Parked near it at a supermarket & noticed an older man heading towards it. I complimented the car, he thanked me, then he started it & I knew it was a V8. I asked if he'd ever sell it & surprisingly he said yes. Had 42,000 original miles.)

1968 Dodge Coronet 500 Convertible - 1996
(Local newspaper ad with no price, called & bought it during my lunch break.)

1968 Dodge Charger - 2003
(Found on ebay to build a Charger convertible from the Coronet, but I can't cut up a rust free car with all new sheet metal.)

1970 Plymouth Road Runner Coupe - 2006
(Had wanted another 1970 Plymouth ever since the towing outfit wrecked the GTX I bought & never got to drive. Found this one on Moparts in New Jersey after looking online for a couple of months & inspecting several pieces of s**t for more money.)

I bought this Porsche 944 from a good friend.   I picked it up from his house and took it to a cruise night nearby.    Someone came up after we pulled in and asked me about the car.    He says, "So, how long have you owned it?"   My answer was, "Oh, about 15 minutes".   I wasn't lying.

Somehow I held on to the 74 Charger for 12 years (2001-2013). Longest Ive ever owned a car. Going on 6 years with the 08 Charger (Nov. '07 - present).

Well see how long I keep the Satellite...not intending on selling it anytime soon unless a) someone makes an offer I cant refuse and offers me a shit load of money for it or b) something unforeseen happens and I am forced to do so.

Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

if it came down to being forced to sell the Satty for that reason, I'd redecorate the house with a new wife.

Good for you.

A good friend of mine had that happen to him. He had a Liberty Edition Harley that his wife said, "Had to go to offset the cost of the new living room & bedroom sets they desperately needed because the 2 year old stuff was looking outdated."  ::)

He sold it, took a loss on the bike & a year later took a loss on the condo, the furniture & more when he found her screwing someone else.
