So if some  guy buys the car and he doesn't realize there are problems with the car you are going to tell him hes a moron ,instead of trying to help him? I don't think he's the moron!!!

I have news for ya, if he buys that car without doing his homework he is a moron. And what the heck am I supposed to help him with. . . .  holding his dick while he takes a piss.  Maybe I will have to invite him over, smoke some pot, get out the acoustic guitar, sing old hippy music and tell him it will be alright. I am not the type of guy who gives trophy's to losers.

Try to understand. .  my initial statement was a sarcastic hypothetical.

Buyers must beware.  If they are not and have taken a hit I don't see the point in rubbing their nose in it. However if they intend to pass their loss on we should not help them in the least.

Not sure why the first thing that came to your mind to help him was "holding his dick while he takes a piss"..that's a little weird, but to each his own. I thought forums like this were to exchange info, and help out other people with similar interests not to bash them. No one is asking you to give a trophy to anyone, and I don't think the guy is a loser just because he made a mistake. Must be tough to be perfect!

He has it now, he pretty much has to keep trying to unload it.

There will be be uninformed buyer out there who will pick it up.  He will then join this forum to show off his newly acquired 68 Hemi Charger.  We  will then all race to send him the link to this thread showing him what a moron he is.

Dear new 1968 Hemi Charger owner,

We regret to inform you that you have bought a Sandy flood car from a shyster.  Many of us emailed him to stop with the false advertising, the 'I'm just a dummy about a little bit of surface rust' bent of his ad, and some even contacted Ebay about this.  The guy has other hemi cars and knows his business, knew the car he bought, and he knew that there would be profit in this car if he could dupe someone.  That someone is you.  Sorry you are just now hearing this news.  You're on your own as far as pursuing any claim against the seller.  This would probably take years and if the car sits during this protracted process then there may not be much left of her in the end.

Regardless, if you decide that this is still the car for you then I have good news and bad news.  First, the bad news.  Your car is disintegrating.  It's sitting out in your garage right now falling apart on a molecular level and it's just a matter of time before bits like the rocker panels rot out from the inside and the car falls in half.  Whether it is you or the next guy work must start on this car asap.

Now the good news.  You have an epic opportunity to become a hero of Mopar fans everywhere!  A proper restoration is needed post-haste and at the end of it you will have a beauty, Mopar magazines will be pounding on your garage door for pics and the whole story.  Your car will be (in)famous and, if you do a superb job eradicating the salt from her, you will have a well-known top-notch car for fun, display, or sale.  Another rare car will be saved.

You'll need a few things - 1) loads of money, let's just say $50k is an opening bid, and this is with you doing a bunch of disassembly/assembly yourself (this is hugely rewarding and fun!); 2) time, this is going to a couple years; 3) space, you need plenty of room to work on this awesome car; 4) lots and lots of photos and documentation, we can help out here by providing you with your very own thread to post pictures in; 5) help - again, we are here to be a resource for all your questions - hey maybe you'll teach us all a thing or two; and 6) the expertise of a few specialists starting with a body dipper.  Yep, your baby is going to have to take another bath, but this time it'll be like the spa for her.  She'll come out all rejuvenated and ready for a new life ahead.

Now would be a good time to take a deep breath, maybe meditate, check the stars for proper alignment.  Should you go forth we will all be rooting for you all the way.  Should you find that you don't have the time/money/motivation then please sell this car with full disclosure to someone with the resources to do a proper job.  You may find that person here on DC.com.

No, you're not a moron.  But next time you buy a classic try to dig a little deeper, we could have met earlier if you had googled the VIN.

So, all this "ranting"over some guy buying that roach of a hemi car even after all the do gooders tried like hell to kill the sale??

Classic. And I reply with cuss words and rants....wow.
So, how hard did this "moron" get hosed? What was the final tally?

I don't think anyone actually bought it yet.  I think they are just discussing it hypothetically.

I am thinking if someone is spending this kind of money, they should be doing their homework anyways.
I would find it hard to believe someone would spend this much without seeing it, or even paying someone to check the car out
for them.
Here is opportunity, someone to list their services to pre-inspect the car for potential buyers.
If it was me, I would spend a little money before buying ANY car over a certain amount.

Of Course,

If they are spending this kind of money, and not doing their homework, they probably have a lot money and don't care.
They will just pay to fix it up later. Some people just have a lot of money to burn.

It is true some people have enough money that it really doesn't matter dollar wise. But to be had by misrepresentation makes one a fool. No one would allow that willingly.
Also most people with much money got that way by making sound and informed decisions.
It seems that in this case the real fool is the seller. If he has a good reputation he is about to lose it.
No one wants to be had. And someone with much money most likely got that way by making sound decisions

If he was to disclose all the information in his advert., it wouldn't be so damn bad, I know I wouldn't have an issue with him buying & trying to resale it... but evading the subject & not disclosing it, well it's just freaken' wrong, a scammer, deceptive & unethical seller period :Twocents: byer beware

Let's face it...no regular Joe has the $147,500 to pony up for this car.  Anyone who buys it with either have the money to fix it right and/or the money to sue the pants off the seller.  I think the seller is crazy to take that risk.  Even ebay has gotten better about fraud cases like this.  He will never be able to sell on ebay again after this.

I doubt that. Ebay makes their money. They don't care.

I don't know how it is in Arizona, but in my state, with used cars, it's BUYER assumes all risks on pre-owed cars, without warranty or resolve. Buy at your own risk...

I put way too much time in this already.  Ebay doesn't give a damn, seller doesn't give a damn.  Now I need not give a damn.

Sad, very sad.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.
