yesterday i was driving my 72 charger to work when as i was driving down the road the car started to pull to the left, i didnt think too much of it until a couple of miles later the entire front end started shaking and i got a smell that sounded like someone welding (i am guessing super hot metal) about alf a mile after the smell started it quit and the steering straightened up. I checked my power steering fluid and it was just a bit low but not at all very low. I opened the hood wen i parked it and i could smell te smell, but it wasnt coming from the steering box, and ultimatly i could not pin point exactly where it was coming from. The car was also just aligned. What do you people think could be the problem? This is pretty worrying because this is my everyday driver, and takes me about 50 miles a day. Any input is greatly appreciated

is it possible your brake caliper seized up? You could be smelling burnt up brake pad. From your description it sounds like the caliper got stuck, then freed up abit down the road. Depending on which type of caliper you have on the car makes a difference as to how to fix it. If its pin type you could have a bent pin, or a rusted slider. Its also possible the caliper itself is on its way out and you should replace it asap. Luckily they are pretty cheap for our cars.
