I would like to replace my clock with a tach. I'm hearing that the repro tach is junk, and I should rebuild a factory one. Is this true? Thanks.

I put in a Charger Specialties repro a few years ago and it works fine. Plus, good luck finding an original.

Is it made of plastic or metal like the original? I was told they are cheap plastic.

I know they are 8K and originals are 7K... I guess they are autometer inners parts which are 8K

Honestly, I don't know. I was in Iraq at the time I ordered it. I had it shipped to a friend's shop and he installed it for me so it was ready to go when I got home.

I also installed one from Charger Specialties. As Nacho states it is an 8k, works and looks fine.
