Well the car is rust free so there is no patch panels just a few dings and a small crease near the rear bumper. The front fenders and hood are AMD so thats all good. I also have an amazing body guy that I know could make sure she is straight as an arrow. All things I think point to a black paint job

I personally think they all need to be the same straight as an arrow. No matter what the color.
68 Charger R/t white with black v/t and red tailstripe. 440 4 speed ,black interior
68 383 auto with a/c and power windows. Now 440 4 speed jj1 gold black interior .
My Charger is a hybrid car, it burns gas and rubber............

I think most people are right....it's your car, do what you want! My 69 RT is a matching #'s car and I plan (in a few years) to remove the matching #'s 440 and replace it with another big block that I can beat on and not worry about breaking. I also plan to strip the vinyl top and remove the rear RT emblems and put the factory RT red tail stripe. Nothing that can't be solved with a sander  :icon_smile_big:

Is it my eyes or does the back tire look like it's on fire?

Good Luck!  TC

I don't care what is is designed to do,I want to know what it can do.

I would say the popularity of the previous color may have some affect on the value once it's painted black. There aren't too many people that seem to howl when green gets covered up but I'd tend to shy away from covering colors like red or certain blues, Hemi orange or bronze.

......Only if there is a green fastback Mustang racing you near any gas stations......

Back in the day I had a 68 R/T that was originally yellow, had planned to paint it black (because of the movie "Bullitt") but traded it and cash on a '70 Hemi 4-speed Superbird before that happened.  The kid had to sell the Superbird because he was forever street racing, and the police had had enough...they would follow him everywhere, any time he would drive it................(his loss was my gain....I am sure my old '68 saw a lot of street racing in his hands...)

I own a black 2008 Challenger SRT...love how it looks in black, but as others have pointed out.....very hard to keep clean and looking perfect.....but when it's clean, there is no beating a black car...

Just curious how come your removing your vinyl top.To each his own but I like the contrast. Lots of good comments. I agree every car should be straight as an arrow no matter what color. I see allot of 55 chevys that are bumpy and wavy with new paint on them. If it were me I would have done whatever it took to get it straight.

I have the best of both worlds. My 68 R/T is factory black, but it came with a green top and interior....it will be staying that way too!

I don't have any pics of it set up that way. We bought it from the original owner's son's best friend. After the original owner died, his son got it and changed a bunch of stuff on it. One of the things that he did was dye the green top black. He also put gold shag carpeting inside lol. Right now the car is a bare shell about to go on the rotisserie....
